We feel open world PvP is in an okay position but has room to improve. The rewards for flagging while leveling up are good (the 10% XP bonus makes a difference), and the rewards for PvP kills are meaningful. At end game, however, the rewards for flagging are not good. There are two changes coming in the short term that should help. The first is that we are going to increase the luck of players when flagged. This should be an important and lasting benefit to flagging.
If you read the blog post the reasoning is provided. I really don’t see why this change would cause someone to stop playing… of all the possible reasons you decide to put the game down that would be a rather silly one!
well loot is much better in PvE than open world PvP. elite zone farming is so much more rewarding
farming token for the faction set is easy af, you can have it in 1 day. spending all the tokens for pots is also not rewarding at all and you’ll have plenty after a while anyway
I agree with the rest. the game is badly conceived, they should have stayed on a PvP optics with faction bonuses rather than individual. for example: if our faction captured such outpost, ALL the people of the faction have a bonus of luck. that would create a feeling of solidarity and an incentive for all the members of the faction to flag to capture the strategic point. they could then just unflag while pvp-player protect the point from raider for example
The biggest PvE Illness is “LFG 590 GS only!”. If you get PvE gear easier while playing PvP you fall behind if you don’t put in more time time or play a mode you don’t want to play at a given time.
On top of it just to be clear: I’m for 24/7 PvP servers without stupid time windows to PvP for terretorys and all that stuff. I WISH there was a clear cut between PvP and PvE Because then everyone get what they want without any issues that always evolved in games where PvE and PvP tried to coexist.
Sure the loot is better if you grind for it for hours on the same spot but why should someone who chooses to flag for PvP get more all of the sudden? it’s the players choice if they want to battle it out with other Players who made the same choice :).
On top of it Luck is the most important Stat in the game and making it easier to get to certain brakpoints only by pressing a button and making a choice is beyond me. If a game offers two ways to play you can always choose freely why should one offer better bonuses then the other? Because I choose to be able to be ganked? Realy? ^^
PVE Players get dungeons, elite zones, the best craftable gear in the game, and get FREE gold from chest and monsters they want to boost their gear score and such…
I still don’t get what you’re falling behind. I’m so sorry, I assure you I’m not trying to be obtuse. I just legitimately don’t understand what you’re falling behind.
Let me elaborate. PVE is, for the most part a solo endeavour (of course yes certain areas require co-operation but you’re still a solo act). Yesterday, you may have had a goal of 590 gear score in three weeks and that’s achievable to you. Today that’s still acheivable. In a solo environment, how does someone else having a slightly higher chance of getting to their individual target at a different time make you fall behind your own target. To me, it seems you are still on track no?
PvErs have never and will never be important to PvPers. PvPers are generelly better at the (any) game. we´re more efficient at pve too (mainly cos we hate it and just wanna get it done asap) something we´re beeing forced to do btw. we learn inherent game mechanics in much bigger detail cos its required to be good at pvp. we also dont need them for our crafting needs as we will take care of that ourself.
and lets just be perfectly honest while we´re at it. deep down all these loud mouthed PvErs that are crying whenever PvP gets even the slightest bit of love would love to be PvPers if they had the skills/quick thinking ability to do so. beeing competitive is rooted deep in human nature. we all have it in us and the only reason they aren´t following that urge is because they already know they aren´t good enough to be competitive and that is the very exact reason why they have all this hate for PvPers. it is 100% pure envy. nothing else.
this is the cold hard truth.
then there is the reasonable PvErs that may have entirely different reasons for why they dont wanna compete in PvP. f.e. time restraints, simply having more important things in life and dont wanna commit the time required to be good at PvP or simply beeing too old and not having the reflexes anymore. the list goes on. those will not be bothered when devs throw pvpers a bone cos they understand it doesnt really effect them in any meanungful way.
the 2nd group is fine and coexistence might be possible if the game is designed right.
the first group is the reason why so many promising games of the past went down the drain cos developers made the mistake to even allow them to speak their mind, let alone listen to their BS.
This isn´t a PvE or PvP game… this is a mixed one with a bigger focus on PvP (theoretically).
If anyone of you have ever played Dark Age of Camelot. It has a similar system.
If you only choose PvE content, it´s your decision, but PvP is still the other part. So it´s totaly fine if PvP flagged players get a small luck increase if they do Open PvPvE.
I wish they would introduce more features from DAoC. Open PvP Dungeons, a big Open PvP area with castle/towers for sieging and boni if you hold them etc.
This isn´t WoW, FF 14, SWTOR or ESO with strict barriers between PvP and PvE.
It´s not about playing as PvE-player or PvP-player, it´s a about playing as New World-player. ^^
Cause they have more down time due to having to fight for nodes or resources so risk vs reward. Chances are they still get less than once players due to fighting and running back and so on when they die
This is clearly a toll thread by another PVE carebare. This isn’t a PVE game… It’s a PVP game you can do PVE in. More risk = More reward. Only a simpleton could not understand this.
