Not my first MMO by any means, far from it. I’ve played WoW and OSRS for a while and quite a few others off and on. I understand scaling and such thats not an issue. But basically making one piece of gear distribution worse than another is bad game design. Both should be on par since players will want the other thresholds anyway.
This just means that the cost of armoring trophies, armoring clothing, and all the mats to roll gear are going to skyrocket to the moon. People will still be spending a ton of money regardless. Plus BIS is still not easy to roll even if they made RNG better, the chances are more favorable but not necessarily easier. It took me 6 months of grinding mats and rolling gear to get all BIS. Id say after patch itll take half that time.
Yeah, it probably won’t be BiS next month. If AGS is serious about continuing changes.
I keep telling people to consider the game an Alpha version. It’s definitely not the final version. It can’t be. So don’t expect it.
One really wouldn’t be worse than the other.
Gear progression is inevitable. The split attributes providing more attributes may see some more unique builds…in a very stale meta.
It wont even effect every build.
For example, the most popular build…GA/WH.
The only benefit it would have, is to push the 50 extra into dex…for crit chance. BUT you would need 10 pieces of gear to be str/dex split…which would put you over the 50 dex needed. Thus you would lose damage due to hitting close to 100 dex.
The split stat thing would add more variety for the “hybrid” off meta builds…which I’m 100% for.
Btw…yea im biased majorly. My main build is musket/rapier…and 6 pieces already have the split attributes, and 3 are bis ![]()
You’ve said it yourself, you’re biased
but yeah I really think both should be on par or single stat items will just be like dual stat were before, useless.
Why is it a slap in the face? Legit question. Meta shits happen in every game that has them. At what point would it not be considered a slap in the face?
Maybe if they did put single stat on par with split, make more diminishing returns to stuff that only scales with 1 attribute, to encourage variety.
BUT, if they did that…would still keep split stat fairly useless. Is nice to find the random BOE drops on the TH for cheap, compared to if it would have been a single stat attribute…
I’m fine regardless if they just added more attributes to gear, despite if it’s single or double…benefits me both ways.
Would just be nice to see more off meta stuff.
It’s honestly not even a meta shift. It really just opens up more varities of builds rather than 300 main 200 con. If con was included in the split stat i could understand these split stat forum topics, but in reality if you’re running all split stat gear to get the 50 extra attribute points you have no boost to con from gear. Imo most builds decent builds might be able to get 10-20 extra points from split stack which is far from game changing or a reason to give up on a set you already have.
youre kind of lost and dont understand what the update will do. i want you to spec into str/dex, 5 con, and let me know how you do against somebody with 200 con… its not even close. you have very slightly increased damage, and get killed in 2 hits… you cannot glass cannon at all currently in this game, this adds slightly more damage to builds who want to go that route, i promise you 200 con will still be 10000% better than have the extra stats. youre thinking about it all wrong. when you think youre missing out on stats. its not for the people who want to use con. derpy derp.
If BIS is going to change every 2 months, it needs to be WAYYYYY easier to craft. Even with timeless shards, you can easily spend 250k in mats in 60 seconds rolling and not even get a 2.5 perker, nevermind BIS.
I’ve pissed away probably 2-3 million in instantly shredable rolls. And I don’t even want to think about the tens of millions of gold worth of mats I’ve rolled for others that they might as well have just dropped on the ground.
Now we’re back to rolling either 3 random perks or 2 + a random attribute. Literally 1 step forward and 2 steps back for this game.
Which they hardly ever had to begin with. Those extra 50 points they do get will go to the same high damage builds but now they get free reign to have an extra 50 con. Hardly fair. They’re competitive with the rest of the builds. They do not deserve 50 stats for nothing.
Buddy, it doesn’t effect con on split stack gear. BiS is still BiS. It just allows people to experiment with mixed stat weapon builds and glass cannons. Getting 300 main 200 con will still be most viable for most content.
No point on passing this change it will affect the balance of the game currently prolly will destroy a lot of things that are already being balanced
If AGS wanted people to experiment with split stats, let people make sacrifices on the primary stat? They are already buffing certain stat milestones. Giving 50 extra stats on top is like letting someone have the cake and eat it too. It makes no sense.
That’s the problem, no one has been willing to sacrifice their primary stat with the way it currently is.
and a lot of people still won’t do it. Healers sill gonna run 100 or less con, the same as mages and muskets. Glass cannons will basically get +50 stats free and that’s it, isn’t?
Depends on if they are already using split stats. If they are not then it’s not particularly free. I think this is a commonly misunderstood thing by people that have not tested this. It forces you to take 50 attributes off your main stat or off CON in exchange. It’s instead exchanging damage stats for a milestone perk to improve build diversity.
Split stats use 0.9 for their primary attribute so the theory is that is part of the compensation as well. They are technically already behind on damage scaling. Take that how you wish.
If they are going main attr gear yeah, they’ll have to rework as everyone else, BUT they will really use that +50 stats into scaling their main weapon besides the perk bonus. However, most of them won’t have to take away that CON attr, since I believe that most of those builds are not running 200CON.
The 0.9 stat scaling is complicated since they were supposed to use both stats and avoid the diminishing return on stat investment, plus the double-dip in int that some weapons have with elemental gems, which should be enough to compensate for the 0.1 scaling difference
I’m a bit confused on what you’re talking about. Are you saying people should have to sacrifice their primary attribute to use split stats? If so, you do. They also changed a lot of other attribute milestones. 200 con 10% physical and ele resistance is going to be massive. You’re not going to be able to run that 200 con with 300 main attribute and be able to take advantage of all the 50 milestone perks. I’m not creating hate. I’m just saying this is not going to be a meta change that is even worthy of being called a meta change like everyone is talking about.
That may change with the 200 con milestone change. 10% for both physical and ele resistance isn’t anything to shrug at.
