Why still have server around

Right now there are servers where there are 38 people online and if u look at the 24 hours its been max 100 people. I wonder why U haven’t done anything about it, Make it so that u only have 4-5 servers where there are ISH 2000 players per day who love the game and if more are coming back make a back up server or make new when the time is needed. Don’t let the 38 player play alone??

It’s probably because these are the last of their worldsets so merges are going to be between worldsets and AGS can’t figure out what to do with players that have characters on both merged worlds.

Nope, after merge you just simply have 2 characters on the same server.

Maybe Brimstone Sands is closer to being finished than we think, the next Content Patch July could breath some Life Back into New World with a New Dungeon and reworked crafting.
Couple this with the current Steam Summer Sale (24€) …

Maybe AGS thinks there will be an influx of new Players and old ones coming back.

This could be a reason as to why they do not merge right now.

Why not merge these servers and spin up a new server per region? They are missing an opportunity to attract back players who rather start with a fresh economy over one that is 8 months stale, with millions of resources and gold in circulation. Not to mention the numerous dupes.

They would need to make these no transfer servers.

I don’t want to wait in queues if they merge all servers and some people will come back after content patches. People have (or can buy) server transfers. If they’re fine with such a small why do you want to push them to a crowded server. For me 2k server is too busy. Hard to gather resources because they’re constantly camped. 600 for me is a fine spot. There’s still a lot happening, I can go grab resources, market is alive, just perfect.

That’s a lot of copium. The top US servers peak in the low 1000s, if that. 3 out of 8 US East server peak below 300 players. They would need to at least double their player base for queues to become a problem, and it would only affect a handful of servers. Moreover, a single patch, unless it’s massive and game changing, is not going to bring a huge influx of players. If players start to come back it will be gradual, and if servers are getting too full AGS can add a server or 2 when needed.

They should merge low population servers when needed. It will help retain players.

I do agree with you that a ~800 population server is more enjoyable to play on than a 2000 player server. A <500 player is not to fun to play on, though.

These patches that change things in game such as the upcoming crafting update and the azoth travel system… basically all the friction changes might have kept some players if they didn’t take 6 months to a year to get over their stubborness and changed it within a few months of launch.

Now its too late. Players are not going to come back in droves. The best AGS can hope for is to retain current players and maybe get some back if the expansion is good. If the expansion is not good and its the same old RNG/Timegate/Grind crap, just with a new area then no one is coming back.

Remember that we’ll have new region this autumn. After merge spinning up new servers won’t be a solution. Why? Because people that are already playing will be on high pop server and would have to transfer. It’d only work for new players.

And again, if you feel like your server is not fun just transfer out of it. If someone enjoys low pop let them enjoy. Don’t make assumptions on how other players want to play based on your experience, everyone is different and plays how they like.

The game typical loses at least 20% of its player base each month, and the game will be down to ~10k concurrent players by September or October. I don’t know when the expansion will launch, but the vast majority of the servers are going to be low pop by then.

You can always buy a transfer token to get off a high population server if need be, hah.

Yeah, just wait till the release a new zone and you have 40k + folks that have not played in months trying to log on.

What they need to do is cross region gameplay and sharding.

Most people who bought the game never reached level 60.

It’s because AGS is hoping to increase the player count and needs the extra servers to accommodate population expansion.

Said many times, not merging because those low pop servers provide easy/cheap resources that get funneled to populated servers via transfers tokens.

Why would not let people Africa the resources and get 15 bucks per coin?

The underlying issue is, that all that gold is going nowhere, I can think RMT, but last time I said that, I got banned.
