I don’t care and I am a skills grandmaster. It is the crafting I don’t like. I spend 3 months personally gathering and converting materials to legendary mats. When I get enough to craft about 60 attempts, the legendary are too rare, and they still give crap mismatched perks making purples cheaper and better. Crafting is a big FU to those that spend all the time to do it themselves including gather. That is what bothers me not the good quest rewards.
I agree but then what is really being asked is for crafting to be more prominent and profitable, not for the game to stop becoming easier, because that’s exactly what scarabs did do too.
I think part of the problem is that getting yourself set up to craft BiS items isn’t too difficult either at this point.
Can’t make money as a crafter if everyone can become one in no time.
Why would I pay a premium for stuff I, or anyone else, can make myself?
The problem is that if they were to make it more difficult (I use that word loosely here because what it would really boil down to is a larger time investment) people would feel the game is too grindy. Therefore I don’t think being a crafter is ever going to be very viable again.
It won’t matter, either way, because the people who would use the quest rewards aren’t the people who would be spending 100s of thousands on BiS. They could have one for every weapon or even varieties, your customer-base wouldn’t change.
But you don’t need 200, the Armor and trophies like a normal crafter.
Not even…
Crafters have had such a stranglehold on the market that until Brimstones, even crappy two-perkers have been selling for way over-inflated prices.
Events and quests have never given out BiS gear. They’ve only ever given out 2/3 BiS. That means one throwaway perk, so that lego might as well be a purple.
;
The only change between then and now is when you guys roll absolute trash, you don’t sell them for over-inflated prices as often as you used to.
The fact that you whine about how you can’t be as predatory towards new and returning players, since they don’t rely on the auction house to get decent gear shows that you don’t have the best interest of the games health in mind.
It’s healthy for the game to have the best gear drop randomly in other activities as well as crafters being able to get the gear as well. Having MULTIPLE legitimate ways to gear up is healthy for the game.
Having to depend on crafters alone? That was never healthy for the game and it showed with how low the playerbase was, and how most people who stuck around still couldn’t afford the insane prices, and everyone was at the mercy of crafters who kept shooting prices up, because they could, because there was nowhere else to get good gear.
It’s a great change that will drive down the cost of crafted garbage. It’s not the customers job to pay an over-inflated price to help you recoup the cost of bad luck. That’s your job. Now you can’t pawn it off on customers anymore.
BIS PVE crafts were never worth nearly as much as BIS PVP crafts. If your goal was to only profit on crafting PVE gear then you’re in the wrong business.
i do feel like some people does not want other people to have very good items “if i can’t have them, noone can”
i really don’t care what they’re giving us, it’s nice to finally have something that you can call a reward, not that crap stuff from weapon side-quest line that makes you sweat and get not even good item
I should’ve been more clear on my own perspective when starting this thread. I for one enjoy crafting and the long grind - when I finally craft something I can use it feels great. All the cast offs I try to sell but few do and that’s fine.
I don’t try to make an income from my crafting, it’s just for me and my company mates. I get my coin from refined mats and selling the odd amazing drop from an expedition. I felt somewhat deflated just because I was trying to craft a spear that was pretty much the quest item, so that kinda took the wind out of my sales but no matter, I can use the scarabs to make similar spears for other mob types.
So your mad because you play suboptimally and ags didnt cater to it? Sounds like a you problem.
wel now you can use it to make something else! or try another build for fun since you arent stuck on one single build.
I’m so glad we have drops that actually good on BS and not all crap shit. You also have BIS DEX ancient / corrupted ward set dropping in new Dungeon
What did i miss? I am a primary spear user and i salvaged it immediately. only 1 maybe 2 good rolls there.
I’m not sure everyone get same perks on it. I got a spear with vicious / perforate / corrupted bane so not a bad drop, I still use vicious / sweep bleed / bane for more output dps but it’s a really good starter corrupted spear ( close to BIs) . I’m glad they giving Ward / bane weapons more easily so people will have easier time to learn new dungeons / climbing mutation
Far from a stranglehold. Sure for PvP but for PvE most gear was from drops. Even now its not worth the investment to craft alot of pieces due to the horrible RNG and anything you do make is sold at a loss just to get some return or if you are extremely lucky a small profit.
In other MMOs I main crafting but for New world its a horrible experience.
For real though! Who dis kid?!
Think I salvaged that one…
Its decent one you can get your hands on but hardly bis imo
Has anyone been crafting spears for corrupted dungeons after the patch? or did this crafting element die after the update was released?
You’re forgetting that getting to 200 trade skill is not enough. You also need 200 furnishing, then continue furnishing for aptitude levels and pray to RNGesus for a rare drop that lets you craft the best +trade skill trophies, then repeat that 2 more times. On top of that, buy 3 houses and upkeep them in order to receive those trophy bonuses. Next, you need to go out into the world and farm enemies for a super low chance to get gear with your desired +trade skill. Do that 5 times for each armor piece, plus once for the amulet. Next, get your cooking skill up to 200 so you can craft +trade skill foods. Next, harvest purple tier V mats from wood, skins, fibres, and ores in order to boost your crafting gear score. Now find a town with +trade skill perks and a tier 5 workstation. Finally, you can craft gear usable by your level and end game needs.
I never once used any of my own crafted gear because the whole system was designed to lag behind your progression. Seeing the devs release legendary gear as part of Brimstone quests confirms that players need to be fast tracked so that they can participate in end game activities and keep the game alive. This is a good start, but they still have plenty of work to do. Focus more on providing rewarding gameplay loops and less on hamster wheel spinning.
Exactly and well said.
FFXIV has a nice system benefitting both sides. But it just has a MASSIVE content creation loop where they bring basically what WoW brings in 1year within 3months.
So they usually raise max gearscore constantly.
So first you get gear from content which is BiS. Easy attainable.
Some weeks later, maybe 2, you very similar crafted gear “enabled”, but still “expected” for sweats so ALL of them buy it. So Sweats win, casuals have also decent gear and crafters make a big buck cuz of FOMO on Week1.
And from Week1 to 8 let’s say sweats can farm absolute BiS gear and min/max, but still nothing crazy better.
Two months later casuals get catchup mechanics for that absolute BiS gear, but not exactly BiS cuz BiS is only earned through hardest content.
And 2 months after that the whole cycle repeats.
This gives sweats always something to do. And crafters benefit everytime. And casuals feel no need to fomo and they mainly gather that “better” gear for transmog or aesthetics. Which is why it’s so easy to jump out and into the game whenever
