šŸ» Why taverns empty?

@o-o dear mod ,you can check new ideas for taverns

Let’s add some gambling games like Poker where you can gamble away your gold!

easy thing to implement and would just help when people run into mental blocks with things to do nothing like have a cold brew gambling some cards and wait for the whole thing to blow over

I told em to put a poker table in there so we can play Texas hold em for in game gold lol

lol

Asmongold was saying the tavern should start building your rested (double XP) bar really fast to incentivize people to hang out in the tavern, which I thought was a reasonable idea.

Would be cool to play some card games or something.

I submitted a suggestion a long time ago that barkeeps be able to tell players where Tier 5 crafting stations can be found. That was before I realized you can get this info from the map and/or bio tab, but I still think it’s a good idea.

Barkeeps or inn keepers might also be able to tell players (for example) where to look for Turkulon. Or maybe give hints about where to port for WT’s, where to look for fishing hotspots, give game tips like are found on the game loading screen, or any other host of things. Give these NPC’s some practical purpose. Give us a reason to go into taverns or inns, other than to fetch or finish one-time quests.

Give us the ability and reason to sit in chairs or lay in beds.

When barbers are finally added, put them, or some of them, in inns/taverns.

why not

Sure. You go inside to meet NPCs for quests. Every bartender has a quest. Sometimes NPCs for quests are placed inside.

We already have performance issues when there are lots of players. I think AGS maybe knew that and kept the number of useless NPCs to a minimum.

Nowadays if you did jam lots of players inside a tavern, it’d probably be a slideshow for most of them.

Taverns definitely need a revamp. Give us a reason to go there please.

Ummmm AGS can’t prevent script kiddies from exploiting their spaghetti code. There is no reason for them to try to implement more systems until they perfect the framework presently in place

I think what they were hoping for was people gathering at the tavern to hang out and chat. Their biggest problem with that was introducing a drinking emote gesture that you had to pay for, for a limited time only, during the least popular time. And not being able to play minigames at the pub and being able yo enter into a dual in town using hand to hand combat. To put it simply, there is nothing to do at the pubs except talk and we all know how well that goes. There would be 30 mic icons over people heads in a tight cluster and 5 of them playing their own crappy music through their headsets or microphones and at least 1 is going to utter racist remarks knowing the unlikelyhood of anyone being able to report them due to the clustered population.

I mean, people early release gathered in all kinds of towns and played around with rolling numbers in a circle. Sometimes for money.
Within 2 weeks or so AGS permabanned a ton of people who used the emote /roll for gambling. xd
Suddenly noone was talking anymore in cities xD
Not to mention that 3-4weeks prior people were permabanned for the slightest notion of "negative’ talk. Since everything was considered toxic.

Pretty much killed New Worlds communication within a month, chat was only used to locate where factions are pushing then for quite awhile.

Maybe add a few percent points to song buffs if played in a tavern.

Appreciate you bumping this thread! I apologize for the delayed response.

This is a wonderful idea, thank you to everyone contributing and adding suggestions.

I will forward all feedback to the Dev team to review.

I like to head down to First Light and play songs there. I’ve even dyed an outfit up to look like a tavern bard. No one is ever there but it’s still good solo RP and I feel like I’m doing something nice for what’s pretty much a ghost town.

It would be good to see some sort of mini-game introduce to the tavern, like a card or shell game, that could give people a small boost for a while. Something that’s not too OP, like maybe an increased speed boost on roads

I hope the playing song feature will be developed, frankly, its current state does not appeal to me at all.
