Hi! I want to give VERY NEGATIVE feedback about balance between teams in OPR.
So, actually saying there is NO balance between teams in OPR. Over 9 of 10 matches are 5-min stomps where one team push other team to their respawn. As result the ONLY PvP game mode (for most percentage of players) turns into unfair garbage!
WHY THIS IS HAPPENING?
Let’s logically find this out.
If we would have matchmaking (based on hidden mmr or something like that) then gap in strength between teams would not be so disgusting in most of cases.
Conclusion: OPR matchmaking does NOT count player’s skill level (it just RANDOMLY fills 2 teams with same number of players).
BUT:
In true random in most of cases we would had 2 teams with pretty same sum of strength of players in each.
For better understanding imagine that you have few tens of 5-dollar banknotes and few tens of 10-dollar banknotes. And you randomly with closed eyes spread them one after one between 2 boxes. In most of cases you will have relatively equal amounts of money in each box (usually with not so big difference).
EVIDENT QUESTION IS: if we have true random then why we don’t see normal mathematical distribution (like in example with 2 boxes)?
The answer is: someone’s eyes are not closed and that person intentionally puts bunch of few 10-dollar banknotes in one of boxes.
In other words someone create premade team of strong players and forces “matchmaking” (let’s call it so to be clear) to put this stack of strong players into one of teams.
When online on server is low (not in prime time but still enough to start OPR) system just has no second stack of strong players to put them in opposite team. This evidently cause fact that one team has more strong well equipped players than other team (other strong players in queue are separated true randomly but one of team gets additional pack of guaranteed 5 strong players). In simple words this is actually what we usual players call “imbalance in strength between teams”.
HOW TO FIX THIS?
There are 2 ways:
- To forbid for players to queue for OPR as team (this WOULD be easy short term decision but WOULD hurt teams).
- Or to add matchmaking based on some sort of mmr (I hope devs did statistics in leaderboards not just for fun and can use it for matchmaking in the future).
