Why the AFK banning is bad

And forced all companies to have to syncronise and all create characters at the same time or risk being split far more than they have been by the current system?

Some people have friends from before New World who want to play together.

If they fixed this earlier It wouldn’t be a problem. I have a friend I can’t Play with atm too because of this situation that amazon created at launch. If they made the server character creation cap then it would make people like you and me find other servers that hasnt capped in creation yet and join that server and become that servers community. By also adding migration in the begining wouldve also fixed that issue. Punishing people for something completely harmless shouldnt be allowed. If the Creation cap was placed in the first place the people afking would be the same as a person logged off because you at that point in what faction you chose would neither be an asset or a liabilty.

Mine got to 2 hours and I did the obvious. Deleted my character and started over on a lower pop server. It’s real easy.

No more queues. The queue issue is entirely caused by stubborn players.

It would have forced us to choose between abandoning existing characters to make new ones on a different server or playing without them. Which is the same choice we have now.

Except it would have forced that choice on a lot more people, and potentially multiple times if the server you leave to play with your friend then fills up before your third friend gets a chance to make a character, etc.

Your definition of “completely harmless” seems to be a little off, since it directly impacts the queues and therefore impacts people’s ability to play the game.

did you not read about the part where i typed they shouldve added charater migration on launch as well? I also think they should’ve limited the faction numbers as well. One faction can out number the other faction like how syndecit are(basically twitch fanatic followers). 1k per faction would’ve been perfect too allowing an actual mexican stand off

I think we can all agree that functionality should have existed from day 1.

You’re right, not a popular opinion. I agree with you that life happens food, kids, pooping… but afking for hours knowing others cant get in because of your actions is trash. Now part of the problem directly lies with Amazon, but the rest is own each and every person auto running into a wall and or using an auto hotkey to move around.

This is such a stupid argument to make lol

You shouldn’t be able to ‘hold a spot’ because you have to go be a human for 2 hours a day. Just take a break from the video game. Also I want to know where the dad is that’s logged in for 12+ hours a day and taking ‘1-2h to sort kids out’ & also complaining about losing their spot in an online video game.

Apparently the time before you get kicked out of the game has been lowered to 10 min.
I repeat - 10 minutes.

Get your facts straight before you start spouting stuff because that is incorrect. The official patch notes say the following:

AFK PREVENTION

In an effort to ensure players can’t stay AFK, especially in higher population servers, we’ve made the following adjustments to the AFK prevention system.

  • Added additional AFK prevention to ensure players cannot fool the existing system with simulated mouse movement.
  • Shortened the AFK warning message from 20mins to 15mins.
  • Shortened the AFK disconnect from 25mins to 20mins.

Just another bunch of shit talk with no facts to back it up.

I drove to Wegman’s for fruit, coffee, sandwich fixings and snacks for the kids. I was shocked to see myself not logged out. People complaining about not showering or eating is dumb.

Some of us wait in the queue for hours. Not kicking AFKers is only going to make that queue take longer. Please, if you are AFK, let the system kick you and then rejoin when you want to play again. That being said, AGS NEEDS to fix the reason for us to be in a queue to begin with. The AFK kicking is a bandaid to the actual problem which is AGS does not have the proper architecture and infrastructure to handle a larger player base per server.

I do agree he should’ve read the notes properly.
But I still stand how they shouldn’t punish players for their own oversite.
They should’ve made character creation cap, allow migrations on day 1, capped faction member numbers equally to have a propper mexican stand off of the three factions instead of a purple tidal wave crushing the other 2 factions by sheer numbers. That way the AFKing wouldn’t even be an issue to the community.

AFKers: I’m going to run into a wall for 8 hours while I go to work.

Also AFKers (While auto-running into a wall for 8 hours instead of logging out like a normal person): It’s Amazon’s fault the queue is too long! Why should I be punished?

0 self-awareness. Rofl.

its funny to see how ignorant you are, I guess you must of been banned for AFK macroing since you’re this butt hurt about the implementation.

Maybe im not clear enought.
No queue, no afk.
More server slots less queue. If 100 players wana enter a 50 player game they just need to wait. Is like the brear xp buf, that bars keep respawning forever. The probles inst that player exploit this, the problem is that thoose bears need more spawn time to prevent tat problem. When you make a system you need to have clar rules to prevent players to make stupid thinkgs like scripting movement for hours.
Amazon knows exacley how many players are gonna play the game, bc they all bought the game. Then They opened less than halp slots in all servers. What happened now? Amazon opened tons of new servers to prevent queues. But what happen if you are already on that queued server or your friends or clan are just in that server. You will wait for enter no matter how mane new server exist.
Again, the problem isnt the players that try to keep alive in server, the problems is the managing of the server since the beginning.

You can’t have a real discussion with egoistic/selfish people. They only see themselves and their own needs, disregarding everything else.

When the AFK-changes were announced, I took a small test in Everfall and counted 63 people running into walls. That’s in ONE town - and last time I checked, there are more towns than just Everfall. So a quick estimate would suggest AT LEAST 10% of the server using autorun to stay active.

Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that it’s a problem. That said, it’s not the problem. The server cap is the biggest problem. But doing some elite zone runs, it doesn’t really take a rocket scientist to figure out that the world isn’t really designed for a lot more people than 2000. 5000+ would be a real issue in a lot of places/situations.

So… Currently, the anti-AFK rules WILL help, and is helping the situation for the vast majority of players.

You can’t both agree that what users are doing is wrong, and disagree that they shouldn’t be punished. That’s just simply not how it works. Either you know they are doing something they shouldn’t, thus punishment is warranted, or you don’t think they are doing something wrong, and thus think punishment is not warranted.

The AFK timer is pretty lax and gives plenty of time to do what you need to do in a short break. If you need 1 - 2 hours of AFK time, then you don’t have time to play the game right now. Log out, give your slot to someone else.

There is never a good excuse to break Tos, or CoC.

Nobody is forcing you onto the server you are on at the moment, You always have the option to create a new character on a server with no queues.

I think the most pathetic excuse from the AFKers is “but if I have go to poop!”. Seriously, you have 20 minutes to go to the toilet and come back to your PC before you get kicked. If it takes you more than 20 minutes to poop, either you didn’t really need to, or you urgently need to see a proctologist.

So let me ask you this, would you start looting and rioting in the streets if your power went out for a day? Of course you wouldn’t. A company having an oversight, or something not working correctly, is no excuse to start doing the wrong thing.

Yeah, stuff breaks, doesn’t work right, etc and it can be really inconvenient. Welcome to life. What you don’t do, is use those shortcomings as an excuse to break the rules. Yet that is exactly what users are doing. It doesn’t matter that Amazon over looked the popularity of their game. It’s no excuse to start breaking rules.

I highly agree with punishing these users because if they are the type of person to act like this over AFKing, they are the type to abuse other flaws in the game and that’s not the kind of player you want around.
