Another self-proclaimed ‘master of the universe’ “I am a developer and i know best!” with that horrible holier than thou attitude.
I’d love to see those ‘MMO’s’ you’ve built and run, bud. No, seriously i would love to see them, so that i can judge you from what i see with my own eyes, so i can tell if you truly have the experience and knowledge to come in here flapping your gums.
Darn straight, i report people i see standing on the spot, swinging their weapons or jumping at set intervals for hours on end. Why? Because activating a macro script just to avoid getting logged out is not only against the TOS but it is also preventing people from connecting. People who actually want to play. We pay the same amount of money you and all the other so-called ‘power gamers’ do. Oh and by the way, they’re not really ‘power gamers’. In order to be power players they’d have to actually play… Y’know…
Carebears? You mean the PVE players who keep the majority of MMORPGs alive for years and years?
Hardcore players and power players are a tiny fraction of the overall player base for any MMORPG. They barely make a dent in the developer’s income and revenue. The majority of MMORPG players are casuals or ‘carebears’ as you put it.
No, we’re not what’s wrong with the game. You and others like you, who circumvent a game mechanic, is what’s wrong with the world we live in. You put yourselves on a mile high pedestal and drown yourselves in your own ego, then belittle anyone who doesn’t agree with the way you do things.
Yes, we are doing something good for the community when we report someone for circumventing a game mechanic aka exploiting. The ones who get banned will be replaced by people who actually play the game rather than holding the queue hostage by exploiting the AFK mechanics.
Its not simplistic thinking you are just doing what most human brains do. Justifying your behavior.
When asked why you’ve done something or what you’ve done your brain will try to explain away what you’ve done, and since you already did what you said your brain is trying to explain it in a logically consistent way to prevent cognitive dissonance. Which it succeeded in doing.
However your ‘simplistic thinking’ deprived others who wanted to play and were ready to do so a chance to do so. Which is why I take issue with people doing this. You are saying, with your bare face hanging out mind you, “I deserve to be here more than you do and my time is far more valuable” which is like…
Ok boomer.
But in all seriousness, yeah it sucks to wait. But if you’re choosing to play before the transfers open and population normalizes…have a care and realize there is someone who is ready and waiting you are depriving.
This is an interesting case study of the red button parable. The psychological thought experiment where if you press the button you get xk cash and somebody in the world dies. Taking your thinking to its logical conclusion… You’d press that button wouldn’t you?
I’m afraid all the tissues in the world won’t help you lot when you get banned for exploiting, and i’ll be sitting here with a smile on my face, knowing i took part in getting you lot banned so others may enjoy this amazing game.
At least i’m doing my part for the community by reporting AFK exploiters using macros to jump/swing their weapon etc every 10-120 seconds.
Do you really expect a company of 50 players, and all of their friends, to move their character and company elsewhere altogether ? This is an impossible scenario. Especially when you own territories.
They want us to schedule wars, but we need to login 16 hours in advance - and not be afk ? This is pure non sense. Fix the pop cap, then take care of the AFKs.
They’re backed by a trillion dollar company with a billion dollar server infracstructure. Yet they can’t even TELL us “Here’s what we’re working on for that issue”.
“We’re working on making it a better experience” resulting in new, EMPTY servers and +250 pop cap for some EU servers ? Is that a joke ?
It’s been a week and they can’t even tell us what’s going on.
I’ve been in queue for 4 hours. I won’t be able to play tonight while my adversary companies are getting ahead of the game. The game core pvp mechanics relies on companies all logging on at once and fighting against eachother. Yet we can’t login. We’ll de facto lose wars and territories simply because we had to work… and arrived home 6 hours before the 30 minutes fight. Totally makes sense.
Even Diablo 3 was playable after a week. And it was a terrible, terrible launch.
They have told us. Within another week character transfers will be on the go. So you expect say to day updates? It will just be 'we are working and testing the character transfer system… "
I know it sucks I barely get to play myself with work and the queues but… There are other games and in a week or so this will all be behind us. By alleams let Amazon know you are displeased with their product and would like a fix but don’t bring down other players and take their time away to do it.
Yes you can, because those AFKers are why the server queue is high.
If you’re not playing the game for an extended period; leave. You don’t have some God-given right to stay logged in and shitting on everyone else with an anti-AFK script just because you bought the game.
You have no more right to stay logged in than anyone else. And that right ends when you stop actively playing the game for an extended period.
Do you park at your bank and say ‘Well, I used the ATM a week ago, so I’m going to park here for the next 7 days because I deserve it. But you’d better not tow my car!’
I wonder what the players who never come to forums, read dev twitters or anything game related really besides maybe watching a youtube vid or two about the game, think about all of this when they find themselves banned for doing what many do in other games.
Every minute you spend not playing the game but taking up queue space, is time that someone else who is actively waiting to play…is not getting to play.
They aren’t banning random players in the game, bud. They are banning people that are cheating/hacking in their game and going against their TOS, which you agree to follow on entering/purchasing the game.
Also the ques in the beta were nothing even close to what they are now, queuing in beta was most of the time not longer than an hour or 2 long. and therefore character transfers weren’t really needed. its something they came up with after finding that instead of people spreading out across all the servers as they were added, there are still ques on servers upwards of 2000, with those que times not being an hour or 2 but 6-8 hours
I’m also getting annoyed with the constant,“what if I have to eat” or blah blah blah. I say if you are planning a long play session that will take many hours, plan accordingly.
Well you clearly havent thought this through.
Once there are less people blocking other from entering the game by AFK Running, there will be less of a queue cause the flow of people logging in / out will be better.
Since the banning the queues on my server have gone down by 70% and the actual wait time by 50%. (As perceived by me and my friends with).
If you need to do something in RL thats takes more then 20 minutes just logg out and let other people play.
As per every other topic trying to defend this…
You’re part of the problem.
YOU are the reason why the queues are so bad. You’re cheating the system, and being selfish in doing so.
You absolutely deserve bans and character deletions for doing it… it’s as simple as that.
yea decrease by 2%
but what i really want is very harsh punishment for those fishing botters… lifetime hardware ban! so everyone would think twice even considering a cheat
