Why the AFK banning is bad

that felt good that the macroing afk users were kicked / banned, queue time was much much shorter today during peak hours. Too many whiney cry babies trying to argue that macro isnt an exploit.

Exploit users always try to claim that exploiting is fine, so they can do it.

I still remember when Blizzard did their first Overwatch ban-wave, back in the day. One user made an account on one of the forums that sold hacks to screen shot the drama.
People were literally talking about class-action lawsuits against Blizzard because they felt getting banned for hacking was illegal because they, and I quote ‘bought the game and could do whatever they wanted’ with their copes.
They claimed Blizzard banning them was THEFT since they paid for their game, and Blizzard was not refunding them the money. That’s right; they actually thought being banned for CHEATING was illegal.

Knowing that i contributed in getting these lazy, exploiting gamers removed from the game by continuing to report their behavior, really put a smile on my face.

People who get caught exploiting or cheating in some other fashion tend to go off the rails and make forum posts where they bash the developer, claiming that they never cheated or did anything wrong…

What these muppets don’t realize is that there are other players who report them, as well as developers having their own way of finding out.

Most devs have logs they can back track and look at as well as character logs that have detailed information on what they did, when they did it and where they did it.

It’s a sad day when people defend cheating in MMORPGs indeed.

Hah! Why am i not surprised there are fishing bots as well…

The lengths of which these idiots go to in order to avoid having to put in any actual effort themselves is beyond hilarious…

And THAT is why we bring wolves to kill them. lol I want my own hilarity too! I really should start making it into clips on twitch.

I highly disagree. Trying to use your personal life as an excuse to tie up the game from others is just terrible. If you have to make food for your family, then the game shouldn’t be your priority. If you come back and there is a queue then wait patiently or try again another day. The AFK timer is designed to let you take a short break and not get kicked. If you need more time, then you don’t need to be worrying about playing the game.

Oh when i saw them in the wild, running against trees, i just cut down the trees and watched as they ran straight to their deaths. AFTER reporting them, of course.

EDIT: Was thinking about the afk exploiters there for some reason hah.

You might be Grumpy, but you’re an OldGit I can appreciate.

Yeah people should sit in queue while you take up a spot for one of those long showers of yours.

Im with you, the problem is the server capacityy and queue problems. Focusing on punish players for the problems that they suffer is the incorrect point of view. The must focus on clear queue problems istead.

the punishment will be for people using unauthorized means to stay in game such as mouse manipulation programs to appear they are not afk to the game engine, they will be be banning people for being afk, you will drop from the world once you hit the inaction time out. Its pretty simple, dont cheat and play the game.

All these people that disagree with this person are not looking at the bigger problem. you guys are taking the small percent of people who go afk in bad faith and punishing everyone else because of it. Why should you have to wait 4+ hours because you went to go take a shower, make food, feed your pets, clean the house, etc.
You people fail to see that amazon is avoiding resposiblitly on their own mistake by punishing our community. If you are a dedicated player to this game then you would see how 20 mins of afk leeway time is very short. Do you honestly think that those afkers wanted to afk in the first place? Why would you need to afk in a mmorpg if you didn’t have worry about a queue that takes half of your play time. You all saw what happened durring launched day alone. Your favorite twitch streams had to wait hours on end with you all just to get into a server. Even with all that evidence starring at your face isn’t enough for you then you are a frog in a slow cooking pot, because when you give authority an inch they will take a mile. Next they will take every comment you say on global chat without investigating and ban you because some jack A** told everyone to report without solid reason.

I play on Celadon, the server that Shroud plays on, his legion of followers (over 9million) have a large presence as well. Since the afk time out has been implemented our que times have vanished. Last week we had 1500-1800 in 7-10 hour ques, all week. Now im not saying the afk time fixed it all but I can tell you without a doubt it made a difference. In any city you could see multiple people running into walls. It is not hard to figure out that if you lose your spot if you afk so you think of ways to stop that from happening when you know you will have to wait hours to get back in. Not all solutions will make everyone happy, and clearly this one did not make you happy but seek solace in the fact that everyone else is happy about this. To be clear, im not implying that Shroud or any of his followers contribute to this, I merely stated their presence is large to explain the over population on that server.

The idlers are CAUSING the queue problems.
300 people AFK for 8 hours:
People: Amazon needs to fix the queue!

Amazon bans afkers using scripts to idle for 8 hours:
People: Wait, not like that!

These AFK’ers that sit for hours on end can be classified as griefing to the population that can and want to play. I started on a recommended empty server that’s slowly filling up but I haven’t had one single queue since I started. I have no problem with a ban on these AFK’ers as they basically fit the “bots” category quite well. A short few days of being banned will thin out the queues and all around better for the population.

If you decide to play on an overwhelmingly popular server, that’s one you but that also comes with the price of a lengthy queue. Its not the fix all solution but it is a good solution to the major issue of queues. Also its release of a huge game, to be expected.

Idk where you guys are playing, but I haven’t been in a que once and I play on a high pop.

This game has a big PVP mechanic where three factions fight over land to make their gameplay easier and better. Taking that into account what would happen if 1 faction that out numbers the other 2 has all their players take most of the spots in a server. The other 2 faction wont have the numbers to combat that zerg mob. Increasing cap even by 500 to 1k would’ve made a more difference then changing the afk rule. If a person in a low pop server afks would you have said anything? If the max capacity was a problem at the start of launch you shouldve allowed players to choose other servers to join with their characters. All of you people that S*** on afker don’t even realize that if you were in the same situation as the hours of wait time you would’ve done it as well. Double standers of you people are ridiculous.
I dont condone AFKers, but I won’t ridicule them for trying to find ways to avoid queue times that could’ve have been fixed pretty easliy with amazons budget.

I don’t think they should ban AFK like you said. but they should be punished with like 3hour without being able to login or something like that.

Imagine you’re playing and your computer restart… you get like 3hours queue… but removing this AFK people running on wall, the queue will drop to 1h-30minutes… and this is something that will maintain for like forever… so it’s a plus to the game. The reason the queue are long, are because people do not want to disconnect and the game do not drop them, causing thousand of people to be AFK holding the spots.

Sorry it’s hard to explain, but i hope you understand my point

Amen
Fix the system Not Punish the player for the issue.
This is more like them half A**ing it for the problem they first caused to begin with.
