Why the battlepass isnt a good idea

yep, most battlepasses are completable with minimal play time. I completed the R6 Battle pass in the last week or two of the 3 month season because I had quit playing when the season started. Same with cod, only it was more like just off and on play time. I dont frequent cod, I only play when friends want to play with me, but I still managed to complete or almost complete the battlepass for almost every season I played. Thats why I never get FOMO with battlepasses, because I know the grind is minimal. Most of the cod battlepasses that I completed were the free one, I got free cosmetics, easy. Didnt pay for anything nor was I tempted to because I knew I didnt play the game all the time. Still completed it. If I happened to buy the battlepass even though I dont play enough to complete it, nor do I want 99% of the skins in it, thats my fault, not the games. Thats called being irresponsible. Its not the games job to babysit you and watch over you to make sure you make good financial choices.

The concept is already in the game, the grind is already in the game, the dailies are already in the game, the genre as a whole is much worse than the BP model, and the benefits will outweigh the weak mental of financially incompetent players who btw, are the minority.

His opinion, while valid, comes from inexperience with actually completing a battlepass and having his head in the sand and being oblivious at the type of game hes playing.

That’s it. I go into the game for a few hours every day. Every day. And it would be a nice bonus, that for my two hours of daily play I will also be given cosmetic rewards. And nothing’s gonna happen if I don’t get in the game a couple of times in three months.

yep, if I miss a cool skin, so what, if the games not fun, the games not fun. Im not gonna pay money to get a skin if I dont want to grind to get it, nor if I dont find the game fun. Theres always the free track, its literally a win-win, you dont buy it, you get free rewards for playing, you do buy it, you get cooler rewards, a return on the currency you spent to buy it, and a reason to play.

Exactly. If a person does not want to buy BP, Lord, let him not buy. If a person does not want to grind, let him not grind. Nothing will happen to his character unless he buys a battle pass. Others who buy a pass will have no advantage over him. The only thing better is the one who plays the game longer and more often. And that’s because he improves his character. This is MMORPG, which makes people play often and for a long time.

For clarification, am I the bad stupid person here?

To supply context to everyone else, I have no issues with it.

edit

never mind I read the above threads

No Thx to BP…
Unless … they optimize the game so I can play pvp. (Or play the game in general, don’t anymore)
:slightly_smiling_face: Apparently PC overtuned. :upside_down_face:

Purely cosmetic battlepasses should be a thing. If a game has more budget then they can do more its that simple.

Why, are you afraid to have to pay for a service ?
Get a job. You’ll see that $10 to $20 a month is nothing then.

a battlepass but only cosmetics and furnature items as rewards is sexy AF

My two cents on the matter is, I saw this game as a 1 time purchase, with the option of paying into non game play altering cosmetics and i sincerely appreciated that business model.

However, businesses do what businesses do, and at the end of the day they need to turn a profit for a live service. Between either a battle pass style progression system or subscription service, with its current offerings, i think a optional battle pass would be the better option for this game.

When I think of paying a sub, i write it off in my head that im contributing to upkeep and development of the game, and that in turn should keep micro transactions out of the game since they are getting a steady stream of income per player.

However, NW already has a cosmetic only store that seems to be on a pretty regular update, so I can assume that they are making decent money off the store, especially since they also seem to be regularly updating content. So with the in place infrastructure, a battle pass style system would not be outside the realm of impossibility, and as long as it was implemented with a sense of responsibility, i think it could be good for both player and developers alike.

That all being said, i would like it if neither are implemented, and instead they focused on the core game design and balance to bring and keep people engaged, and we as players can vote with our wallets and buy those cool cosmetics when theres something we like as our way of directly supporting this team.

I dont respond to people who cherry pick what i say so it seems half baked. Quote the hole thing if you want to address the issue for relavence or simply dont include any of what I say in what you have to say so users can just click the drop down on what it is your respondibg too. Thats what fox news does to smear people in biased news stories. Be better than that.

Bro your example was shit, context wouldnt have helped.

heres the whole quote, still doesnt make your example make any sense. why are you talking about unspoken advantages? why are you bringing up vision issues with skins when this game has a big ass name tag above you, why are you bringing up random stealth buffs and nerfs when replying to a statement about battlepasses being cosmetic only.

There shouldnt be limited time tracks in an MMO. its ok when there are seasonal stuff and such, seasonal events and vendors, but battlepass is too much. they should just keep putting styles onto the store. I already hate “limited time” concept, in my opinion as a customer i should always be able to reach ANY kind of content(gear/item/skin etc) in ANY time i want. I wish they just put every limited time skin onto the store so that new players can get them too and so that we can get them when we have the economical means to get them for example.

what’s this about battlepass? has AGS said anything about it? or is it just players debating on a yet to come issue?

Anyone advocating for a battlepass is a damn fool

Im using hyperboly to address the slippery slope falacy of the very nature of battle passes. Fortnite has battlefield and others have fallen into this catagory of abusive marketing with camo skins and over powered weapons, not by out right intention in some cases and others blatently so.
When i used the active camo example it was to explain that some skins have an obvious advantage to stay clandestined from enemy awareness of the players location. What if a armor set had hidden code to delay your name tag from being seen while outright standing and running across the players line of sight with a set of colour schemes that the human eye has a tendancy to ignore like browns or greys or blues in a competitive environment that is predominantly brown grey or blue. Now consider if that armor set is locked behind a pay wall. Is the game fair or balanced for everyone? No.

As for the second example I feel i have been very thorough with that explaination, and if there is still an argument due to a lack of understanding, i dont think i have the means nor patience to accomidate you any further.

Who is “a lot of you”?
I see only 2 options:

  1. B2P (like now) and ingame store. No battle pass or any other pass lol. Its gonna be overdonated and thats against the common sense in such game (specially from money giant Amazon)
  2. F2P (trash) and store, pass1, pass2, pass3 and special monthly pass4. You want that? I bet adequate ppl wont.
If you want to destroy your mmo game - make it f2p. Cheaters, braindead etc etc will tear the whole place apart lol. B2P at least a bit “wall” from it.

OP weapons? This is a convo about a cosmetic battlepass. Do you know what that means? And once again, camo and hard to see skins doesnt matter in this game because of the name tag and the lack of attacking while hidden (unless ur musket)

Why would it? that makes no sense. Thats like if my argument against a COSMETIC ONLY battlepass was “what if it had a hatchet skin that made you do 150% more dmg in beserk??” like, how is that relevant? if you pull random problems that physically cant happen out of a hat, its not a good argument.
