Sounds to me like you just want a different game altogether.
I am lost, you bash the game but have 250 hours I’m it. Like dude if you hate it so much why 250 hours in it.
I think you’re looking for a single player game. Companies & factions are supposed to be about community building. Some of this is server dependent and people dependent. My server/faction has it’s own discord channel and they work to include people, especially ones who haven’t had a chance to war before. They just had 2 open wars anyone of any level could join, just post in the Discord to be included. It may take some time for you to find the company & faction that is a good fit for you. Keep looking. The right fit is out there.
what server
You don’t have to join a company to do open world PvP, which is where this game excels anyway.
Pssst… when it comes to the issue you’re having it’s not the game that’s broken.
He’s only Lever 46, thats why!
Im Lever 2000 …
Har Har
i’m confused i don’t recall everquest being free to play when it came out there was a subscription month for it. Starting in March, 2012, the original Everquest will be going “free to play” and the subscription fee will be optional . everquest release date March 16, 1999 game didn’t go free til 2012.
EQ was you had to buy the discs (I still have all the originals!) and then pay a monthly sub on top of it to play.
For all the Hate EQ got after the years youre never going to find another game as good as it lore wise.
/cry
I think most of you missed my point completely.
It is possible to make a game that is NOT a pyramid scheme and this game FAILED.
If you really wanted a community then why would you exclude players? Wouldn’t it be nice if EVERYONE’s contributions counted? That’s the game I want to play.
Instead, this game pushes people to join the one guild in with your faction who runs shit.
That’s my 2 cents
Well said. One solution would be skirmishes of some kind. I guess that’s somewhat of what Outpost Rush is… but let everyone taste war in a practice sense, because there’s no way everyone can get involved. The numbers just don’t add up - and as you said, it’s the game design. If people don’t like that, they didn’t understand the game they started playing.
That’s the issue I am seeing. I don’t want to join a large company and be a MINION for some streaming asshole just to play content. That is the issue I see and why I most likely will stop playing at 60.
and in what real world does a game dev listen to every single person and add what they want? Would it be nice for everyone contribution to count sure but how real is that? You get 100k people all wanting something would be to hard to give everyone what they wanted.
Didn’t I say I have only been crafting and gathering resources? I thought that was clear. No exaggerate. That is all. If you think its a game to gather and craft for no gain except for something to burn time well here is the game of games. You can spend 10 days real life gathering and burning all the mats into crafting because you cant sell them or store them. It is an exercise in monotony. I have only run into bug and unpayable lag when attempting any content.
I am on disability at the moment with nothing but time to kill. If you healthy people think spending 250 hours cutting logs and looking for ore nodes as the sole purpose of this game is a success. Then so be it.
There’s so much doom and gloom on these forums. A lot of people are having fun playing the game, and a lot aren’t having fun. it’s pretty simple if you aren’t having fun, stop playing. If you think things need to be changed, give your issues a voice in a productive manner and hope that is changed. If you don’t like how the game is now, give it a bit and maybe come back to it. If you are enjoying it, probably best to avoid the forums and subreddit.
Outpost Rush and other potential future “battleground” style queued content should offer PvP options for people whether they’re in a guild or not. Assuming they ever fix it and have plans to add other ones eventually.
The queue times I expect will be horrendous on some servers due to differing levels of interest and faction balance, which is why I also hope they do cross-server queues for that kind of content to give faster access to it across all servers.
Agreed. It’s not really fun when you need to prove yourself to other people that your good enough or fun enough or whatever their expectations are just to be able to participate in a major part of the game. I see where the devs were coming from here but I just don’t think it’s going to work out that well.
In a real community not every single person who gets to enjoy the benefits of the community needs to be top dog but that seems to be the case here.
well, you don’t exactly need a company, but you have to work with one.
however, the content is about organized groups fighting each other. If you are not interested in being a part/working with organized larger groups, why would you want to play content that is mostly about organizing with a large group? The content is a war, not a battle royale
this would be like wanting to be in a chorus, with no desire to harmonize with other people.
I do think they may need to develop some other content that smaller group and solo pvp players could enjoy, but the 50v50 capture the castle mini game isn’t that type of content. If you dislike having to follow orders and working with a large group, this isn’t really good content for you.
However, you can pvp with no company, in the open world.
You don’t need to join a company to PvP. You need to join a Faction.
Joining a Faction then offers you the opportunity for open world PvP by flagging yourself and either coming across other flagged players, or participating in mass PvP when factions are trying to influence other factions’ territories. You seem to have no interest in joining a company but want everything which comes with joining a company.
The end-game content for this game is not just dungeons but the constant battle for territories. Are you planning on taking and paying for one on your own? Yes you can play this game solo, but if you want to get involved in something which is designed for groups… well damn, you’re gonna have to join a group.
It IS possible to join a war if you’re not part of a company - but here’s the catch. You’re gonna have to hit a high level, because YES people do want properly geared players defending their territories, and you might actually have to socialize. I’m the Governor of a company and territory on my server, and I’ve had a handful of players from smaller companies reach out to me and nicely ask if it’s possible to join us for our wars. And y’know what? I’m happy to slot those players. If you can bear the thought of reaching out and asking someone to help you out, you might just get involved in endgame content. One of the members of my defensive siege team is a single person who reached out to me from a company I’d never heard of, and I’m now slotting him for every war.
The game’s not designed flawed. Your approach is flawed.
The problem with this perspective, other than ignoring the glaring math imbalance of your choosing that one person thereby leaving out over 2,000 other people to play what seems to be a large portion of the game, is that few people are going to be able to muster 50+ people to do an event.
100 employees is the size of a “large” business to Congress when they make changes to wages, benefits, and taxes. So keeping this in mind when discussing the game’s mechanics means we’re essentially asking someone to come home from work and then put in a few hours per day to basically run a medium+ sized company in the US.
We can look at other games, namely wow, that reduced the party size for their end-game content because they recognized it was unlikely for average, or even above average, players to form a party of 20+ people once a week.
This game takes the more practical approach of offering content for groups sized 3-5, which follows the lead of pretty much every other modern game out there. People do enjoy group activities, but they want to feel impactful with their core group of friends rather than become a nameless blob working for someone else’s benefit.
The request is for PvP activities that can be done in groups of 3-5 without just saying here’s a game and a field now go play in it while the same 100 players repeatedly churn through their end-game war content.
