Why wear light armor?

I been in light gear since day 1 and I love it, Dodge roll FTW, I feel like I cant play without it now. thats mainly why I use light armor I guess.

I have never seen someone use light armor for anything other than the roll; I prefer the small step for Iframe dodging. Heavy Plate all day, baby!

Is that the right way of thinking about it? IDK if the best items are crafted or not but why does it make it okay for quest items that ppl do run and spend countless hours on to be crap? Just because its not the “best item in the game” doesnt justify not making it matter then. Maybe crafted items are the best idk, but for how long? When will there be a patch to change that? Will it always be like this a year from now?

I feel like people are trained into thinking the last quest in The Big Chain is supposed to give you some Great Item that You Use Until The Next Expansion, like legendaries in WoW. I don’t think that’s true in this game - it’s jut a quest, and expecting it to give you some amazing, game defining reward, is expecting the wrong thing.

I could be wrong, your mileage may vary, but I have no compulsion, nor reason, to complete the main quest thread.

Probably because light has no other value than the roll. The bonuses are mostly broken in terms of actually calling it a bonus.

as a musket user, I wear light armor, but changed my mind after trying heavy armor… damage received is greatly reduced! I am dead with 2-3 shots wearing light armor, but with heavy its like I can survive x3 more hits… dodge roll is useless in pvp anyways, you only move a very short distance then the can’t move for a second cause of animation, there’s also so much cc for war hammers, and ice gauntlet, fire staff users can just spam you from far away… the additional damage for light is even barely noticeable… hell I ran the same speed with heavy armors, wish they can improve the balance with armors, like additional movement speed for lighter armors

I can agree it is quite frustrating at times and a lot of times it makes no sense. In my experience from 55-60 as a fully focus/con spec’d healer almost all my “upgrade” gear was dropping str and dex and I’m not saying like 75-80%, I’m talking like 95% or better of my gear is dropping no focus even in quests. And in other MMOs at least most of the quest rewards were spec based and in WoW you can actually chose what spec you want gear drops weighted towards in dungeons and raids.

What is the second wep you use?

It used to be like that, back when the game design decisions made sense :man_shrugging:t3:

I’m always swapping between ice gauntlet or fire staff

Fixed that for ya.

So just that I understand what youre saying is youre full spec in focus and const. You dont want “useless” items so you want your ice guantlet and or firestaff to be either int or const? No focus right?

I want my main gear like armor to drop foc or con not str or dex, if i get an ice gauntlet or fire staff upgrade then i’d hope for int or con on it. I would be ok if it was only sometimes but I (as stated previously) very rarely see a focus stat on my armor upgrades.

You’re not paying attention to the crafting system at all, are you?

Game freak is saying you shouldnt see focus dropped on items like firestaff and ice guantlet so I have no idea how you agree with him.

It looks better than heavy. That’s more than enough for me.

Yeah most of it does, but once I got my full Inquisitor set it didn’t anymore lol! That’s some nice looking heavy armor.

My comment was that I can see how they get frustrated seeing stats that don’t go with anything you are spec’d for as I see that all the time. I should not see 95+% of my “upgrades” having stats that have nothing to do with my spec and are just going to salvage unless it happens to have a gathering skill luck % upgrade for one of those sets I use. I also don’t care about the crafting system being an excuse for this as some people don’t want to have to rely on crafting to get upgrades and actually want to get them from PvP(outpost rush) or PvE content and not hope for a 1 in 15 chance of getting something that works for you, especially in places like Lazarus that aren’t easy to get into and can only get orbs a certain number of times a week.

I suspect, or maybe hope is a more appropriate word, that you are not wrong. Although I would use a slightly different word regarding the main quest thread; I feel no urgency to complete the main quest thread. There is so much diversity in the sights and sounds, not to mention the music! It would be a crime to rush through this game in pursuit of yet another mega weapon or suit of armor that I’ll forget the name of in 6 months.

evade type and damage boost are the reasons.

BTW, armor isn’t a direct relationship to mitigation, its curved. the more armor you have the less effective it is.

the dif in mitigation between medium and heavy is like 10%

light and heavy is like 20%

the actual big differences come from passives, and having way more hp/regen, which is mostly from having high CON, not your gear.
