The world has been shrunk significantly by the ease of fast travel, mounts would serve to shrink it further. Additionally, there’s more to it like how they decide to handle flagged players and mounts for example.
I don’t think the people complaining about walking are a good enough justification for making the map even smaller. My opinion, of course, and others disagree.
Mounts are WAY down the list of things I think they need to prioritize.
I do not know why you think mounts will never be a thing. Info about mounts was found in a new-ish datamine.

I would like to have mounts but this team is no where near where they would be to implement then in a seemless fashion

I’m sure down the road someday if this game stays, I would guess like 6 months if other changes aren’t going well they will probably start adding things like mounts and other stuff to mix it up.
maybe if they’re only allowed on roads, but very few people will actually need them by that point. Everyone appears to be 40+ on my server aside from bots.
