Some nice stuff available, I have to say. The boots, gloves and coat will suit my character nicely.

You were expecting a Holiday PvP fest ?
No, I was expecting a holiday event like in other games. Where you don’t have to grind for something supposedly meant to just be for fun. Quests to get stuff is fine. Having to grind out arbitrary reputation numbers and yet another currency is not. It’s bad enough the entire normal game is based on grind and rng, holiday shit is usually to give everyone a break from that noise in other games. I don’t get my jollies watching numbers go up on every single fucking thing I do, but apparently the devs think nothing can exist without a grind to gate it. I bet they have to grind social points at work before being allowed to take a piss.

There’s free and easy to obtain stuff with the event as well. I’ve never seen a game offer a seasonal/holiday event like this that has actually half decent or usable gear. It’s mostly just cosmetics. New World is offering players the chance to get some luck weapons which are nearly impossible to get otherwise. If you don’t care for that, then just open your free gifts and be happy.
What’s the big deal?

oh ffs, every event in any mmo usually entails some grinding. Maybe the genre just isn’t for you?

Destiny is one of the most popular live service games on the market and they do currency grind for everything including events. I get it if you don’t like it, but it works in many games.

Don´t grind anything, just hit chrismas trees 3 times a day and you are fine 
You don´t need to have reputation in first 3 days of an event.
In the most popular western MMO ever you grind in every holiday. Ive known people still grinding 3 years later because they keep forgetting something in the holiday event that only appears next year.
Im not a great fan of the holiday grind, dont get me wrong, but youre making it out that NW is doing it a lot different than other games which isnt the case.

Reputation or Expertise ?
As far as I know you only need to grind Reputation if you want to buy the special shop items that seem to be mainly cosmetic.
Unfortunately the new Expertise grind that replaces the old “Gear Score Watermark chest runs” through Dynasty, Sirens, Palace etc is NOT part of the winter event it is a permanent change to the level 60 end game mechanic and you do need to do that or any 500+ gear score items you buy will be nerfed.
It just happens to have been introduced in the same patch as the XMAS event. It is here to stay.
final fantasy usually only has a couple little quests only with some text and cutscenes and then BAM. free stuff
probably the best game out there. might be the only MMO out there that doesnt actively hate its playerbase and try to slow them down every chance they get
All mmo’s are a gring … especially when you reach end game!
