Winter Event Patterns Crafting, what is the point?

Hi guys, my current Weaponsmithing skill is level 113. I am looking at the costs of crafting a normal Orichalcum Great Axe and the Event’s Everchill Cleaver, they both are the same except that the Everchill Cleaver requires the Pattern Item from the Winter Event.

What is the difference between the 2 Great Axes and what does having the Winter event’s Pattern Item do for crafting Everchill Cleaver instead of buying it from The Winter Wanderer?

Edit: Apparently The Pattern is only for Cosmetics appearance for Crafting the Event’s Everchill Cleaver, it does not give the Chain Ice and Luck perk based on what others reporting it, is this information correct and accurate?

They really dropped the ball on the stuff you can purchase with the tokens.
This event could have been so good.
