World PvP in New World is very stale and unrewarding, resulting in very few players actively participating. PvP needs to be fun, interesting, and challenging for everyone involved. There are several ways in which AGS can accomplish this, however the following are some ideas I think would improve PvP without taking away from the core of the game.
- Territories need to be more meaningful.
Territories should provide additional benefits to members of the controlling faction while having a way for those benefits to be taken away. Every territory should produce a unique resource, the grade of the resource will depend on the upgrades for the territory. These resources will be produced from PvP controlled farms/mines/etc within the territory. Once a certain amount of resources have been produced, a transport will spawn with some NPC guards to take it into town where it’ll be collected. If the faction of the territory is controlling a producer, then they will receive a bonus.
Opposing factions will be able to contest these producers and if successful, they will be able to plunder any resources that it has not yet transported to the city. If the controlling faction has an adjacent territory, the transport spawned will go to that city instead. Members of the opposing faction can also ambush and take the resources for themselves so it is in the best interest of the controlling faction to protect it.
The resources collected can be used in many different ways, however my current thought is for the resources to go into a pool and anyone within the faction can withdrawal a set amount daily from the resource pool. Unfortunately, first come first serve so its best to make sure your faction is in control of it.
- Force flagged zones
Zones where there are multiple outposts that can be contested for immediate control of the territory. Faction quest bonus while controlling the territory. Reward faction points for contesting an opposing outpost. Controlling an outpost allows respawns. Basically an open world OPR.
- Allow camps of flagged players to be destroyed.
When you finally do engage in World PvP, it sometimes becomes a fight of who gets bored quicker due to respawns at nearby camps. Allow the opposing faction to attack and destroy camps to provide a sense of territory control and advancements.
