maybe nobody will like my idea(s), but here they are.
i am pretty much a fresh 60, and i am pretty amazed at how long some off you have stayed with this gambling simulator. ok, that is kind of rough, but the way gear acquisition works in this game is definitely heavy on the gambling side of things.
i am no longer excited whenever i see a legendary. the only thought that comes to my head is, ‘another piece of gear that nobody will want and that does not match my build’. kind of sad. so here are some ideas stolen from other games.

give us some kind of a currency system to buy gear. let’s say the currency is magic pickles. and you can earn 1 magic pickle a day from completing a dungeon, winning an opr, etc etc. you cannot earn more than 1 magic pickle a day (this lets the devs time gate things as they see fit). then maybe for say 30 magic pickles you can purchase a piece of gear and you get to choose the main attr, for 60 the main attr and one perk, for 90 the main attr and 2 perks, and for 120 the main attr and 3 perks. and of course the perks have to be from respective pools, so for instance you cannot choose lifestealing 3 times. these numbers could be higher, could be lower, but the devs can decide and gate it as they see fit. for me personally i love games that have these kinds of systems, i find i play them a long time because i always know how close i am to my next cool piece of gear. in this game . … who knows when i will get a cool piece of gear, and who knows when it might be on the trading post and if i will see it in time to buy it and if i will have enough gold.

gear sets. a lot of games out there have gear sets. these could be drops and/or bought with the currency system already mentioned.
so maybe most folks will hate my ideas, maybe some will like them. don’t know. but wanted to toss this out there. brimstone sands sounds great, but it is just gonna be more RNG nonsense that i am not a fan of. sadly i know i won’t stay around long for it, at a certain point i just kind of walk away realizing trying to get the gear i want is the same chance as winning the lottery.
