Just how much income do you think they are making vs development costs monthly? I think the pressure is high and so are the expectations. How much is the player count going up every month? What other ways do they generate income besides new players (seen any?) and the cash shop (does anyone even use this?) What other games has AGS produced that have done just as bad, and are still active today?
I do agree with you though, NW is the opposite of WoW and many other successful games.
Even if current revenue is zero, it doesn’t stop the dev team from evolving the game just like how FF14 was relaunched after a massive failure and a complete game shutdown and rework fromZero.
NW is just getting started with its foundation getting stabilized. We already paid and bought the game, that’s all there is to it.
More than 10 millions copies were sold for around 40 bucks already. I don’t understand what the big deal is.
Most games are free to play and they are still pumping expansion after expansion like Everquest 2 with its under 200 player count.
if they would split the servers adn offer pvp only and pve only… switch pve from controlling towns to allowing pve players to buy guild halls and then invest gold they earn or faction points (or combo of both) to build their own tables and workstations and decorations… that MIGHT bring back quite a few players, i know it would bring my company back. take it with a grain of salt though, as we’ve quit playing nw and lost ark and moved back to atlas and 7 days to die. and ive been preaching this move for months without success. but i do keep an eye on new world because it is an absolutely gorgeous game with a ton of unrealized potential.
Please start sharing where you are getting all your data from. I did not realise AGS released info on how many copies sold, which is weird for a successful game studio. I will keep looking. It must be out there.
I feel the same way, WoW (blizzard) disgusts me, FF14 does put me to sleep.
Is the 10k prediction peak concurrent players or unique individual logins?
Probably both average concurrent players and peak populations.
I don’t know anywhere you can find reliable unique individual logins. There is a website mmo-population.com that predicts 400k people login in everyday, but I find that hard to believe unless people are playing for 15 mins or something.
WoW doesn’t interest me because, I’ll be honest, the wokery is off-putting.
FF14 doesn’t appeal to me despite the good reputation.
New World is a gorgeous game. From an auditory and visual perspective it is 5 ☆☆☆☆☆ but I am primarily a PvE player. For me more solid and compelling PvE content is what I hope to see.
I will PvP… but it’s not a world I feel comfortable in generally because I feel some PvP’ers are a little bit elitest, exclusionary and don’t absorb themselves in the game world in the way I do. When I play a fantasy MMO I want to feel immersed in that world. Hard to do that in NW tbh just going by approx 80% of the PvP character names.
You can almost tell how someone approaches NW by how they’ve named their character. DeathlyD0nut (made up name) doesn’t give a damn about being immersed in the rich world AGS created. He’s just thinking about kill counts.
I enjoy Invasions, but don’t like that PvP companies can basically kick people out. I’ve said this before: as a PvE’er I don’t like PvP’ers with too much power and control.
^ This!
I was in an invasion the other day. Saw some 50ish players getting kicked out. Why allow for a kick if AGS themselves designed the encounter to allow 50+? Seems extremely unfair to the folks still leveling.
I second your observation on naming conventions. As someone who has primarily done PVP since 2004 in MMORPG’s, I never made toons with non-immersive names. I really wish there was an RP server with naming conventions, but it seems like the new world player base is too small for something like that.
I don’t RP, but I appreciate the enriched world those players bring to games.
Agree. The company issues are major.
GW2 was always buy-to-play. Also kinda hard to say it failed miserably; it’s still going strong after ten years. Also, in response to one of your other posts: Amazon isn’t an extremely successful company because they do things like let projects drain money eternally just because they can. AGS killed off their first two games, and, unfortunately, they’ll do the same to New World if execs can’t make a compelling financial case for keeping it alive. That’s just how these megacorporations work.
Won’t happen with NW. Not when the game has over 10-30 millions copies sold and a record Steam charts peak. AND its rating are sitting near 70% positive.
me and my friends quit with 1000+ hours each, game is empty everybody can get all the bis armor/weapons from all expeditions very easily without much challenge especially with the shards you just upgrade all items you get to legendary, although bosses seem to drop items in expeditions so often in this game if you don’t get a legendary or epic drop in a dungeon run it actually surprises you were in other games you are super surprised if you actually get a drop there is no sense of achievement for time invested its kind of like when Runescape turned into RuneScape3 and people called it easyscape and quit lol.
essentially there is no flex in this game if you have something i like i can get it within a week there is no items i have to invest real time into to obtain anything we want will have within a week so what’s the point?
Its to casual and easy. expeditions are not hard at all and they have like a drop rate of 1/10 for legendarys.
That’s also with the failed massive campaign in the beginning on reddit to try and flip the reviews of the game into negative. The game is here to last for sure. I know we all want it to be fixed as soon as possible but it will take time, but we will get there.
Have you not followed this forum? People want bis as fresh level 60s. Or they are uninstalling.
And they want to start as lvl 60 now too and ags agree lmao
Amazon spent half a billion dollars per year on AGS, for years. The only thing they have to show for after all that is NW. If Brimstone Sands flops, I imagine they will just pull the plug. It’s either that or going to some F2P model with a robust shop and a premium-optional sub.
Tbh you quitting after thousands of hours on NW is normal and is the right thing to do considering you have with such a long time spent on the game exhausted your enjoyment of the current content and can only stop and take a break until the next major update that will shake up the entire game. This is how things usually go for all games regardless of genre.
Not for me I quit cause the game sucks atm and i will not come back on updates I did not come back for the tempest expedition and will not come back for any further content unless they make it less casual friendly its an MMO not candy crush.
