I just don’t understand AGS Dev Team. You could’ve just done this right from the last patch or even from the start. Why do you folks insist on constantly dangling carrots that the majority of players will barely ever reach? Honestly it seems to me that you spend more time worrying about “Elite Gamers” making too many gains. So you raise the bars which only ends up turning off the majority of your dwindling player base. I have over 3k hours in this game. Been a devoted player since launch. So please don’t take my criticisms as hate or angst. I have nothing but high hopes that this game will regain some of that player base and become a top title once again. I just hope you can find away to make this ship right. From Crafting being nothing but a Gaslight Lottery to this current issue of making your wonderful Arena Platform less rewarding than standard faction loops ( and please do not nerf faction loops ) and everything in between. Please show us the game we truly deserve as we all go forward. It’s almost like real life, where the lower class and the higher class always seem to get more “Grease” as the Middle declines from neglect.
As for this particular topic of Arena Rewards I would suggest that the winning teams get a robust amount of PvP XP & Salt and the losing team (no matter how many rounds they win) should receive exactly half of the rewards. Honestly I figured you would’ve done this from the start.
You can’t count on that high of an XP Yield from G.C. On our server it often breaks out into World War 3 which seriously decreases runs completed for 2 out of the 3 competing factions. Which is healthy don’t get me wrong and I agree with what you’re saying. I just worry Dev’s will nerf faction missions instead of fixing the real issue.
So long as you guys take a good approach to fixing the problem.
I can see how the issue occured and how a lot of things like xp per hour were worked out.
Great cleave just breaks the xp/hr formula by have 3 missions extrememly close together. Even bright wood which is extrememly good only has 2 close and a 3rd somewha close the loop still taking 10 minutes just for the 2 missions.
Opr has always felt really slow for reward track and still needs to be upped a fair bit still and 3v3 are still behind.
You guys also have the issue that factions with more members exploited this route and would run it from dusk till dawn and lock other factions out of running the missions even having some players at gold rank already. Meaning just nerfing all xp will leave some players with a decent head start with ill gotten gains(not the item the saying)
I appreciate the response and can understand the trouble adjusting. I don’t think a lot of testers even tried the missions much and went straight for 3v3 arenas much like myself.

Your feedback is very much appreciated! Sometimes it’s about the journey in order to get to the destination. And I know how much we’d all appreciate to be able to teleport to the end but that’s not always the case.
The best approach and the healthy numbers should be the following (also including some ideas):
Lose with 0 rounds: 300 XP; but +100 each round (you get 500 XP for losing 2-3)
Win: 1,000 XP
And random individual daily bonuses (or challenges): +500 XP (3 challenges daily)
Example: Win by using a bow or if you win without anybody dying in your team, etc… that would be pretty cool.
Agreed and with a mmo as unique as New world you dont have as many old forumals to reference. So fine tuning many things truly comes down to trial and error, so I just enjoy the improvements as they come and give my feedback as best I can.
The Journey… Ironically many months ago we changed the name of our company to “xx Requiem xx”. This name is a dedication to the hundreds (yes hundreds) of members we have lost on this “Journey” since launch. It’s our song for the fallen. I agree with your statement, while at same time the Journey we’ve all been on has taken too many good players out of the game. There’s a saying “Sometimes we lose track of the forest through the trees”.
Tone deaf reply and saying you will adjust in a future patch means nothing when you are willing to Hotfix things same day when players are “grinding too fast”. There is no end to the pvp track each track is basically a loot roll. It takes 13 arena wins right now per track roughly. Meaning you get like two chances at a good gear roll every hour or two. Or you could go grind a track in less then 30 mins on “pvp”missions. I’m not saying remove the xp from pve missions I’m saying buff opr and arenas today not tomorrow. You people don’t seem to understand your community is hanging on by a thread tomorrow may not come for this game. Either tell us you are letting the game die or start making positive changes TODAY!
Whoa this thread got intense fast! I imagine with the next update it will be adjusted accordingly. I think before we were wondering if it was bugged and everyone was set to 25% xp. Happy to have an answer. In meantime we can enjoy the OPR changes and that open world PVP is back in Great Cleave at least!
yes let me have the journey doing the same thin to be a dex user getting medium focus gear with perks I need. Or the journey to then farm umbral shards in boring M10s, that people are so selective in picking players. Sometimes the journey does not have to be long to be enjoyable. a journey can last a life time and just be a block.
When the playerbase goes from 100ks, to 20k people are tired of this ‘journey’ and wont be coming back.
Honestly even that would feel better. What an average arena match? 10 minutes?
With current xp rewards it’s 2025xp average per hour if you equally get 0, 1, 2, and 3 wins. Getting 6 games an hour? 12k is GC PVP mission reference.
Let’s say we increase it and do 500, 1000, 1500, 2000. That’s 5k average with room to go up or down. If you win every one then it’s 12k which is consistent with PVP missions. Also no one is going to consistently win every single game. Probably closer to 8k-10k average for a solid team.
I think that might be reasonable, although with OPRs xp it’s at maybe that’s overtuned, hmm, maybe less?. Just to give some feedback. Curious what the average time a set of arena games goes to make better calculations.
