Even though the fine print says 12:00am on the 4th, why the heck would they advertise it as double xp for “July 1st to July 4th” if it doesn’t even include 1 minute on July 4th? And regardless, why would anyone in the company decide to make a double xp on A HOLIDAY WEEKEND and not include the holiday itself?
I just started the game last week and was excited but man I can see why so many people left when so many decisions are made that are anti-player. It’s all around better to have the x2 xp, as someone who watched the game for months and finally am playing now, the grind of everything is way too long for no reason but with x2 actually feels reasonable.
Especially with weapons, after grinding out weapons this weekend the combat actually feels fun but they expect a new player to stick around long enough for double that time normally before combat gets good? Especially given that the game already has such a poor reputation, extra "time sinks"seem very offputting because there’s no guarantee the population won’t half again in the next year or the game with die after a few years.
Some MMOs you don’t mind the time sink because you know the game will be around for a long time, but this game is already on life support.
Mostly a rant but besides “updates & fixes” do they actually do things to support the players now? The bugs didn’t even seem bad, it seemed more the lack of content before (which there is some more it seems) and the fact that many changes seemed to be contrary to what players want or unhelpful to player experience.
Has anything actually really changed with how they support change the game besides fixes and some new content? If not does anything think they’re ever going to listen or is this game doomed
[Event] XP Extravaganza this post shows it running until 2:59 EST on July 5th not 4th so it should still be active but it is not? I agree another day would have been better. Conflicting information on dates doesn’t help.
I was just thinking that yesterday. Played since launch and the x2 experience - IMO - wouldn’t hurt anything if they left it like that.
I too thought x2 experience would include the 4th as well. (I admit, I didn’t look it up… Just seems like common sense. Potentially long weekend for a lot of people, include the holiday?)
That would’ve made sense as more people than usual would have the day off.
That’s actually a head scratcher.
you started playing last week and you let yourself be guided by all the bad comments about the game, at the first error you saw you are already killing it?, seriously!.
As if all the games on the market did not have errors XD.
Tell me the truth, you came back to play after months for double the XP and you’re one of those who always hates the game, so you waited for an error to come and threw more S…
you couldn’t wait a few hours to find out if it was a mistake XD, god, what crystals are they now.
No actually started playing Thursday because of the sale on steam. Its not about games having errors or not, MMOs are meant to be long-term games. That’s the genre.
All MMOs have errors and bugs, but the reason people put up with them is because they know the game has been around and will continue to be around. And most big budget games like this do a lot of proofreading and event planning.
If you think its just about the errors or not, I didn’t care about the bugs and bad reviews I saw all last year while people hyped it up. But there is real feedback that makes it seem like they aren’t paying enough attention to players and that often leads to dead games in the MMO market because there is so much competition.
Its not about the mistake with the event itself, its about their whole way of doing things. If they don’t bother to make sure the event things are straight before release, why would you also trust that they will pay attention to the issues in the games?
The game has a lot of potential but first impressions are important, and especially if they’re trying to get new players with the event that doesn’t look good. And I’m sure they are, its no coincidence that the steam sale is happening at the same time as their x2 xp weekends this month. Its to incentivise new players because that’s partly why I hadn’t joined yet.
$40 and have to catch up to everyone at endgame with long grind? Or $24 and level twice as fast? Who wouldn’t join during a time like this if they have been thinking about it
Your initial comment implies that you only saw the bad and now your opinion is different, it is not clear to me what your position is.
About the planning, you should know that all the Devs of the game changed and the new ones had to get used to the graphic engine that it uses.
An example of the first impressions is that, although it is not an MMO, it is Ark Survival, at its launch it was very poorly optimized and seeing it now, a great game.
What happens is that they have listened to the opinions of the players, well, they have read them, but the game belongs to them, we only played it, if they paid attention, but there are changes that instead of improving the game destroy it. . . . . , an example is to make it full PVP.
I bought it when it was worth 40$ and I’ve been playing it for 2000 hours, I’m ready for almost everything, professions, crafts… I’m ready to enjoy all the new content, including the expansion, sometimes . There is only one opportunity to experience the game (from the beginning), those who come after enjoy it but have the advantage that veterans make the game easy.
You bought it for double the XP, that makes me think you’ll either put it down when it’s gone or not play it until another XP event comes back, casual player, I hope not.
My position is that it is better than it seemed at launch, but still has some bigger issues. I like the game and hope it does well, I didn’t buy because of the double xp, I bought it because it was on sale and I had been thinking about it for the past 6+ months.
I am playing casually for now at least until there are a few more updates but I won’t put it down because the double xp ended. I don’t care that it ended (though i think that should really be the normal xp rate, at least for new players like how other MMOs do to catch up at least to a certain point).
My issue with the post is like I already said, it is frustrating to have an event with issues like that. Not because the event itself, but that just sends the message of a lack of professionalism. Not a big deal sure, but if the game is really going to retain players and compete in the market with all the MMOs out and new somewhat similar games on the horizon like Ark Survival 2, its not a good look.
I’m thinking long-term, games like this need to keep a population around and people eventually quit or get busy so you need new players. First impressions are important for that and if this was a lot of new players first impression why would they play this versus Ark 2 or an MMO or w/e other game if those game devs are more organized and professional?
I didn’t know all the devs changed so that is good but even still I think my point is still valid. My issue is that they didn’t seem to be taking their customers into account if it wasn’t a mistake, and if it was (which it was) its just a poor impression. I’m not talking about listening to every single piece of feedback like Full loot PvP, im talking about the absolute basics like an event working, or major bugs getting fixed quickly.
Its resolved now anyways so I’m a lot more hopeful than the original post, because I’m used to most games this will happen and no message or anything will come out. Even with all the issues I do give the team credit for how much work and time they’re puttiing in to make the game better, I’ve been following it since release I was just waiting to see if they were going to keep supporting to game after the launch failure before I jumped in
well now your point of view is clear to me, as advice from a player who started playing it from day 1, wait a while, 1 day, maybe 2 before reacting, the dev knows what problems he has and can solve it in an issue of hours as was the case or some days when there are larger errors.
I’m done here, have a good game and let’s continue enjoying this wonderful game (A diamond that gets more polished every day).
