The second monitor thing is even better for faster runs I think.
On the addon you would only see a small part of the map and youd discover stuff rather randomly.
On a second monitor you can filter the only thing you need and mark a route with your live location.

Meanwhile I’ve never used the overwolf minimap and have no issues finding gathering nodes. Maybe I just didn’t rely on 3rd party tools and actually learned where the nodes are in the world like they wanted us to?

yeah because people are so pathetic they cant use a game as it should be so they have to bypass mechanics and find a third party mechanic to counter what the devs actually wanted from the players, just as i say it is pathetic, even those who created those minimaps and interactive maps ( while login in to BETAS and ALPHAS not to fix and report bugs, but to spoil everything from the game to new players ) with all ressources are even more pathetic that the users themselves…
i never ever and never will use any minimap and interactive that shows me everything on the map map because it destroys all my immersion of the game by telling where to find anything without any effort to find it and i make my own notes on where i fond this and that ressource or animal etc. Its a personal effort like an adventurer and explorer, thats how they want us to play and that’s why those cheat users will quit the game when they reach lvl 60 because they just will get bored of the work needed to be end game gear and all the necessary grinding.

Totally agree its things like this that kill a player driven economy and rpgmmos pve side

Not true I have come across loads of them also still standing may I add which I have taken notes on location
I know if my nodes are up long before I even get close enough to see the stump. If you didn’t rely on the minimap you wouldn’t have to wander around aimlessly. Nodes are all set up in circular routes that are really easy to find if you aren’t tunnel visioning on 1 type of resource. You can also see if a node is up at the edge of render distance long before they would even show up on a tracker or a minimap in the first place. .
Short end is op you are moaning about something you are not allowed to use that is an inconvenience to you

That sounds like a good explanation of that approach.
For me my memory isn’t so hot so I’ve had to learn to love the process of gathering randomly. Exploring has turned into my favorite activity in any game.
And as I mentioned there are plenty of resources nodes.
That’s what you prefer and maybe set as a priority.
But some people don’t. Some have different approaches to the game. Some like to watch howto‘s on YouTube when they struggle.
Why do you think there are a shit ton of walkthroughs and howto‘s on the Internet?
That’s not something new. We had walkthroughs in pc magazines back in “my days”.
For me using maps like these is the same as watching walkthroughs and howto‘s.
For me that is not cheating. That is using knowledge acquired by others for your own advantage.
The map shows that there are resources close to my position. So I go there as it’s just a short trip.
For casual gamers who prioritize other things it is engaging.
For me -the two days I used Overwolf- the game/exploring or rather gathering was fun again.
And I play this game since first Alphas, I explored the shit out of it already since 2018.
And no, that does not mean that I should know every spot as everything changed with each Patch.
A different take:
What if you travel across Aeternum.
Set a marker for each resource on a map in MS Paint and share said map with others/your friends?
Is that cheating?
Yes I know now it was breaking/against tos.
But why would you care?
You can still continue exploring Aeternum.
I don’t see any difference in using an add on or using a 2nd monitor/smartphone.
According to some folks on Reddit there will be alternatives similar to the ones we had, which will only pull your current location.
So we will have the same add on without breaking tos.
Well that’s a flat out lie. Just because the devs flip flop around on what they believe is acceptable doesn’t mean they didn’t give the ok on the use of third party overlays early on 
To look at the website that shows where the locations for the item you’re looking for spawns
Why are you bothered? If you don’t want to use third party information so you don’t “break your immersion” or whatever, then don’t.
Why other people doing so would stick in your craw like it does boggles my mind. Let people enjoy the game how they want to, and you do the same.

I know the location of every orichalcum vein in new world. Via the use of new world maps.
I now play this game on my google chrome. Thanks AGS. Way to kill the immersion experience even more. And now I need to find a third monitor for watching youtube while I farm for herbs. Who the heck care about environment and surroundings when im farming herbs.
