Yes, returning players are leaving again--these are 2 of the reasons why:

What you just described, while awesome, would never be possible with this lead director at the helm lol…game is basically hello kitty island adventure and the devs can only do what the lead director tells them to do

I was honestly surprised that the one 50v50 instance was all the “war” we had. I understand that AGS scaled down their pvp plans from their betas, but from what I remember, it was because it was focused more on just full loot pvp that people couldn’t get away from. There’s ways to make pve and pvp coexist, re: the ideas we’re putting forth, which I think can both keep the world engaging while giving players a choice on whether to participate or not.

I really like the idea of skirmishes leading up to the big fight. It makes that final fight feel more meaningful, especially if you contributed to it in important ways. It’s a good way to create a sense of cohesion, which I feel like is the whole point of factions anyway (but is failing at its current state).

Strange… I came back and played for a few days… cleared the new zone and got the Great Sword to 20…

The reason I am not staying around isn’t related to either of those 2 examples… but is simply because this game is still the same game it was at launch… sure they sprinkled a lot of nice stuff on top…but it is still a dog turd, just a dog turd with a lot of nice sprinkles on it.

The core game loop is boring and very focused on 2 things… Ilvl bumps from open world chest looting, and running mutation dungeons. Then there is the poorly designed keep battles that just seem like a dodgy mess at best half the time.

I played at launch and was in a huge pvp guild that dominated our server for a few months, then people started changing factions … then everyone switched to the same faction… and before you knew it the entire map was 1 color… game was dead at that point.

New world really needs to take a page from Warhammer online when it comes to how land battles and keep struggles should work, but that would require the dev team to honestly accept their current game isn’t very fun.

They seem very convinced they can save this game by beating the same drum with a new beat, I wish them the best… but I am leaving simply because the game just isn’t much fun even with a new zone and new gear.

Unsubstantiated nonsense. Usual PvPer spam post by the OP to promote more PvP for dubious reasons.

This is basically closer to the truth.

The major issues haven’t really been addressed, or addressed too late if at all.
The new expansion is just like a seasonal event. People came, saw, and now they are done.
Even the revamped quests – if the underlying story is still basically the same… well, slightly more interesting quests won’t save the story that really didn’t get interesting until very very late when you discovered that box you saw in the intro movie didn’t in fact contain Azoth.

Numbers go up, then numbers go down when the novelty has worn off.
Nothing special here.

You can be competitive in pve and pvp, easily without spending a dime. You realize named gear is pretty close to bis gear right? There are tons of drops all over the place so you can get this stuff for free. I have found the vast majority of gear i use and do fine.

Even what bis is made of is all over the place depending on your build or activity. Resilient for example is bis for pvp and worthless for pve. If you run resilent in pve you are really just running purple 2 perk gear. And guess what, thats fine too if you arent doing m10s.

Ill admit they made crafting pretty lame but thats because it was going to be a full loot pvp. Lets be glad thats not a thing, the amount of rage people would have had walking out of town in bis gear and getting instakilled and looted by a musket team would have made this game die in 2 weeks.

uhmmm no? i dont spend hours on farming and crafting for the perfect gear set only to get it broken in the future only to buy ur crap.

Game is too easy, this patch was like event, people just checked and now they gone again. Same story will be with FFS people will join and leave. 98% of modern players are no interested, to stay with 1 game most of them are bored after month/2 months. Only few MMO’s players will stay at one title…

This! You can Finish the new brimstone content in a few hours.

Most asked question on many platforms Imho is “im 60 now what to do?”

Well, there is a Lack of PvP content, cause AGS focused enterely on PvE. So you can do Dungeons and mutated dungeons.

Imho people leave cause they dont get what they expected PvP endgame content.

I think most of them left, because they left more like " Ok I finished game it was fun time for another". Devs can add 5 new pvp contents an they will leave again after month. Even if someone them were pretty lucky got BIS gears in this month or 2 months…

Imho PvP content Last longer, cause people try to get to the top and try to adapt and get better.

On the other Hand PvE content gets boring real fast cause it’s Always the Same Shit.

Well people are leaving again, but not at all for the reasons the OP posted.

So you think one of the 2 reasons people are leaving is because there armor does not break or need to be replaced?

That’s ridiculous not to mention that is a horrible idea, oh and I don’t care about PVP most of the player base don’t, you are not in touch with the player base at all lol.

They’re leaving because another MMO has new content dropping and everyone always rotates their MMO attention based on latest content drops.

They’ll be back to New World when New World has another big content drop.

You PvE or PvP? PvE? agreed, PvP? Definitely not. The PvP scene has changed drastically.

Find all these, “light armor is trash,” posts and you’ll see evidence of the devs trying to balance out OPR.

Tbh I think they are leaving because people nowadays don’t stick to games for a very long time like before. They keep switching between games like they change underwear. If tomorrow another game is released or has a major update, they will be there. Ofc NW needs more content, but even games with lots of content this happens. I’m not surprised at all.

Technically that would be a form of pvp so win win?

Truth is, returning players are leaving the game, simply because they completed brimstone sands and the new dungeon.
These are people that are long searching for “The MMO” that will never exist, and just hop in and out of games with hopes to get fullfiled.
Trying to replicate a feeling that once existed, but doesn’t anymore, because either the industry is different or they’ve grown.
These won’t persist in a game long enough to actually appreciate it. These are jacks of all trades, masters of none.
Population still grown, which is what matters. New World has had worse days.
Bye to all who leave, and i hope you find what you’re looking for some day.

simple reason people may leave is because the game shifted from make your own content and we will give you tools and gameplay to have fun with to we will spoon-feed you content and make you earn the tools and gameplay items you need to have fun.

well there isn’t enough spoonfed content and the tools and items are heavily RNG and time gated creating artificial friction because there the burn is faster than the churn.

it’s why you focus on gameplay and open systems because then players make their own content.

a good world pvp scene would help the pvp side.

PvE well that’s a bit harder because until we have machine learning ai controlling the mobs it will always be static and stale.

once mobs can be dynamic in their fight patterns that PvE can be more engaging wo the need for constant content churn.

it wasn’t a mistake to focus on pve content but there’s only so much you can add before ppl burn through it all.

also ppl make the mistake of thinking brimstone was an expansion and not a free dlc that was preplanned before the launch of the game set to drop in the first 4 mos of launch, there are 3 other zones also that were planned that was the real yr 1 roadmap before they stopped all of that to give mutations and expertise.

Nothing in the game has changed when it comes to PVP outside of the devs screwing with numbers and adjusting things to create balance.

Here is the issue, I have played Black Desert since launch, still play even today almost 6 years. The devs are STILL constantly changing numbers and %s to try and balance things as best they can… you tweak this, then that becomes OP… you nerf that… now these are all OP… you buff that… now these players are upset.

It is a vicious circle that never ends and never honestly brings balance to the game, just the illusion of it.

For PVP to honestly be interesting… they would need INTERESTING PVP battles and scenarios… fighting for a boring ass keep to own territory that gets you no real perks past easy money from a broken system doesn’t infer good PVP, or even revamped PVP… it is the same boring game loop with slightly adjusted DPS numbers

The biggest problem with open world PVP is that no one that goes out farming has gear that is PVP focused gear. They go out in harvesting or mining gear and turning on PVP is only for that extra bit of luck so that they can get something rare.

No one that farms with PVP on does it because they want the PVP experience.
