You don’t play s tier

I think this would be true if

  1. the weapons/gear were actually balanced
  2. there was skill based match making
  3. there was team composition balancing

None of that stuff exists in New World, though. Some people treat new world like a competitive PvP game, but it is literally lacking everything necessary for a competitive PvP game.

I’ll give you that, NW is lacking a lot… but it also has a lot of good things… I’ll also say its not the most competitive game, and will never be an e-sports level game or anything like that… so playing the game like it is… its like eating a boiled egg and expencting to taste crab meat.

But the mindset is the same… You can only change the things you have control over… and focusing on the things u cannot change and ignoring all the things you can is the mindset of a loser, which most people have.

Everyone is given the same tools, might be hard to hear it… but between acceptable gear and bis gear the difference is not that major… the way you play the way you asses the situations u put uself in will carry a much much larger impact on performance then having 2 week old gear vs 2 year old BiS gear.

But it aint none of my bussiness, consider urself a god gamer and blame the game for ur insuficiencies or focus on the games insuficiencies… because that will surely achieve ur goal. kek.

I guess I don’t know the specifics we’re talking about.

But as a solo player in OPR, I can get >50 kills with musket and >1.5 million damage. With the bow I can literally just spam shots into the enemy zerg get >30 kills and >million damage. With melee, though, it takes some effort to get >20 kills and >500k damage, and I cannot do it nearly as consistently as my ranged numbers. I’m probably just better with dex range than melee, but I feel like there is only so much you can do with melee in new world, especially if you play solo.

I’d imagine a lot of solo melee players try OPR a few times and simply give up.

I think it is still true, the thing you point out just make it harder to see.

For example musket. I know a guy that will kick my butt with his musket. But if I had the same load out. He would still kick my butt. I am right now playing and/spear. ( not because of any outside reasons other than I find it fun to play.) there is two people on my server that I know that also play and/spear and they will completely smash me and I will barely touch them. It feels like they know what I am going to do before I do it. ( and I am not a guy that has a set combo) .

They are better than me. It isn’t an unbalanced issue we have the same stuff. “ well 1v1 dosent matter” well it doses I see them in opr in a group. Still kick my butt

OPR sadly is not a measure of skill or player proficiency, the problem is complex and it goes very deep into the game… The way servers are set up will create unballance by default… 2k (on the top server) split between all activities in the game… you cannot expect any semblence of skilled based match making, even for a 3v3 arena.

As you pointed out… solo, is the main theme of ur replay… this is not a solo game, its a MMORPG (this also applies to any team based game that has multiple roles) and as such, putting things in a solo perspective fails on all counts.
Because its a MMORPG, we can only start talking about on a 5v5,10v10,20vs20 scale, on team that have all roles and are proficient at using them, then we can discuss if the game is balanced or unballanced.

Solo balance is not only almost impossible to achieve in a system that uses different roles, but its a poor measure of a systems balance as well in this enviorment.

If you balance your game around everyone having the same numbers performance, you end up with an unballanced system where one role will outperform all others.

Different roles have different responsabilities… and here is what people mostly dont understand. You are not meant to have the same number of kills/dmg regardless of what you play.

Ranged DMG dealers should by default have the highest kills/dmg in any role based system, does not mean the other roles should not be just as important. One thing the OPR does well is objectives (or at least tries to do)… having objectives gives roles a way to perform to the best of their abilities… tanks can take dmg, healer can heal and dmg dealers can dmg… while bruisers are a jack of all trades… we sadly dont rly have assassins in the game which would be a desperately needed role, hence why Healer and Ranged dmg dealers are over-performing in their role, and nerfing them will inevitably just make another role overperform… the system is flawed by design.

This is not understood, by the players of this game, nor seemingly by the devs, otherwise they would stop focusing on ballance and focus on adding more variety and giving more tools to the players, until the system has enough tools to function… only then ballance can be looked at.

But anyway… there are problems with the game dont get me wrong, but focusing on them and failing to understand the system, leads only to dissapointment. SO back to the original topic… if you want to have a good experience, focus on the things you can control, not on the things you cannot.

Same like people played with Resilient + Shirking Fort on Armors and beat meta copy-cats, it will happen again with Resilient + Elemental Aversion.

3rd perk on Armors is not mandatory, but its a boost if u can get it.

Thing is that in PvP will always be somebody better at least once. U can have a bad day or bad timing, can happen to all of us.
But our beloved community likes to login 1-2 hours per day and kill entire server if possible. If they get killed, they just say game is unbalanced and crap, ofc not their issue.

The game is full of pretty glaring balance issues. one of them is that the musket is overtuned, and as a sniper rifle doesn’t have any realistic counterplay when stacked with buffs or numbers.

Unfightable opponents are bad for team-based combat.

Can’t be reported for hacking if you miss every shot :hugs:

you know they just gather “s tier” players for war to sell the windsward income for the lowest price on the internet lol

For many months after Shirking Fortification came out you couldnt even get it with resilient on a usable 3rd bruiser piece as it was very rare and sold to rmt oprimarily or for ridiculous amounts.

Attunement weapons are rare with usable 3rd perks. Balance of gear is pretty poor and theyre slow to make corrections after introdicing overpowered elements.

Yes we have balance issues but I would be willing to bet over half the players complaining about are loosing. To skill gap. I can pick up a musket and not compete with some of the best musket players on my server

Over half ? Thats generous.
I would confidently say 95%…

If you check any competitive game, most of the ones complaining are somehow always terrible players.

Most complaints about balance are somehow always coming from plastic/bronze/silver players in ranked games. Coincidence? I think not…

And once in a blue moon you will have some high skill player complaining if something is rly wrong. Even then most people that have the mental capacity to progress their skill, will focus on how to overcome difficulties rater then cry about them.

Lol well I guess we agree , 95% is over half

If we are having a reality check here we also need to examine the language that we use to talk about competitive PVP players. If you are just an average player do you suck? Are you insufficient? Are you bad? No, you are just average and that is fine. The PVP community has a way of always thinking that they are the best and everyone else is a baddie.

The reality is that still levels differ, and with so many gamers these days, really every serious PvP game needs to have skill-based matchmaking that matches people against others of similar skill. It makes it a much more enjoyable experience.

I think its also important to understand that games need to appeal to the average player. Balancing shouldn’t necessarily happen only around the top 5% of player base or whatever.

I trying to say the opposite. I’m saying the majority of players that think they are experiencing balance issues are just being out played or performed. Those top 5% or so are the ones that truly feel the imbalance.

If you have crap gear and charge straight into a musket from 200 yards and die…… you’re not meeting imbalance you’re just making bad choices.

I also agree you could line ten players up and ask them what being good or above average means and get different answers. To me I might get killed 10 times in a row by a player I think is not good. But I might be able to kill a player over and over I think is good.

But it’s just my opinion on how pvp should happen.

You have a point… But you also don’t… In a pvp environment skill is all that matters. The vast majority of people will be indeed insufficient (no matter the Ballance, no matter the mechanics … Unless we reduce the game to press w+click to win, which some people are trying to with basically always suggesting to remove every single mechanic from the game).

But you know what ? Being insufficient is alright…it’s actually more then alright… It’s the majority, as long as you realize where you stand… Even if you don’t want to improve, that is completely alright… If someone weights 400KG they should not be trying to perform backflips…cause they gonna hurt themselves…people need to be aware of their limitation.

There’s 2 options:
Balance around average PLAYER skill… And then you will end up with a game where most people I guess can perform… But anyone that is truly skilled will become an untouchable god… And people would need to accept that.
Balance around the game being balanced, you balance the game and layer skill should not matter, the way it should be, so people have no excuse to why they got smacked, but then they would just cry about teammates or ping or something else.
Whatever you do those with a loser mentality will always cry, nothing can be done about it… So you might as well try to balance around actual balance and let.people learn to play if they want to reform the best.

And we do need a ranked system… But not in this current system, what is the point in creating a rank system when MOST servers have 1 o pt at one time (meaning Lal people that play opt are in it)… You will be in it no matter what. So having a rank makes sense ONLY after cross server functionality.

I’ve just been running around in light-heavy armor (group vs solo)…with sns and vg. I don’t even know if that is a tier. I do know that it’s just fun to play. I totally know there are way more “effective” combos to play…but meta-chasing (aka post YouTube/Reddit TP buying sprees) is boring to me…especially when the meta is just playing whatever is the most broken.

The egos are so inflated. New world’s combat is fun, but pretending this is some sort of highly competitive and balanced game is a bit of a stretch.
