There’s 15-20 wars a week on Maramma
You think that’s bad?
They’re freaking merging COB into City of Steel.
a 800 peak server into a 1400 peak server.
It will be a 2300-2400 player server…with several hundred in QUE.
Hope they release server transfers. I can’t be fucked waiting an hour to play this game…
Indeed
Hoping they have a plan to increase max player cap or something. Someone didn’t think it out very well.
Completely disagree. Give us the transfer token, let us make the choice. it’s that it’s being forced on us. That’s what we dont like.
To be fair… lots of people were calling for merges of all the servers that have sub 300 peak.
While I agree with you that a mid pop server (500-800 peak) is preferable to a high pop, servers that are sub 300 (of which there are 48) are LOW pop (not mid) and do not function correctly causing people to miss out on game content.
When a server never pops OPR, when it’s hard to find people for invasions or dungeons, when you have to search the map for 10 minutes to find the t5 station you are looking for, the game flat stinks.
I’ll still fault AGS for not communicating. I ended up using my transfer token three days ago after suffering 3 weeks on dead server. Dozens and dozens of threads here asking for mergers and no communication. Then poof… merges. They seriously suck.
Transfer tokens ruined a bunch of healthy mid pop servers the last time around. Mass transfer tokens are bad news.
I can see why you left Pluto – lots of problems on that server. Yes, shard selling, OPR cheats/bots, makes me wonder if all companies who own regions use cheats to win wars… and yes, the annoying immature asmo followers… They should have a server IQ test so fanboys stay on one server and the rest can live in peace on another.
Hope you find a new place. I hope this game doesn’t die off but you have some very good points.
100% agree. Not all of us want to be forced onto a high pop realm and love/appreciate the communities we’ve formed. There shouldn’t be no med-high pop options left.
the thing is that based on the community we don’t struggle, we coordinate. We’re winning invasions on Olympus. I own WW and have it maxxed out and sustained. We have chest runs scheduled every day. We fill invasions and run OPRs afterwards. There’s bots but not many. Sure the market isn’t great but it’s not awful by any means.
300 pop servers work if the community within them work together to make them work. That’s what an mmo is about for a lot of us, the community and friends we have and what we’ve accomplished with them.
However, ags doesn’t want to take an hour to log on to the server, collect some feedback, and make an educated decision based on the server’s wants and needs. These are long term permanent decisions they are making without testing the waters ON the servers instead of the toxic cesspool that is the forums.
This is how you push out the remainder of players who stuck around for close and personal friendships/communities that will be washed away or picked off over the coming weeks cause that’s just how it goes
I think your experience is in the minority on low pop servers. Most are hurting.
Even on your own server, I bet there are people who are unable to enjoy the game because the times they play don’t coincide with your limited chest runs/oprs etc.
Not to say I don’t sympathize because I do understand your points, but the merges are overall a net positive.
Thank you for pointing this out! Like seriously what is wrong with this forum… About couple weeks ago it was blasted with WE NEED MERGERS NOW!!! and now that they announce it everyone loses there minds!
How do you make thru life if can’t deal with difference of opinions? Is it really that hard to believe some people want different things?
I hate these types of posts. The implication is that people are asking for one thing, and then the same people are mad when that thing happens. This is not the truth. Normally its not the same “people” arguing both sides of an issue. It’s two completely different sets of people with differing views.
Thank you!!!
Now that facts in this matter…
-
The Olympus server name matches 100% with the guild name of a certain toxic live streamer that crashes servers when he gets as many people as possible in a small area.
-
The Olympus server name goes away during the next merge.
-
People that support the toxic live streamer’s guild doesn’t want the server name to change (or be removed with a merge).
-
The reasons given within this message thread don’t match the real reasons above for why they don’t want the server name to go away.
-
Since when has any MMORPG company asked whether or not a merge, or anything to do with things being considered by the development team such as class balancing or any other aspect of their game? Answer: Never. They don’t ask these things, they just do it. So the point that the company didn’t ask the community is moot.
I assume it’s because you generalize to suit your feelings, like AGS has done time and time again. 100 people screaming? Theres not 100, different players, screaming merge, in the last 983 posts, theres 19, with 43 pro responses. Thats out of 25000 players. Exclude the high pop base, LIBERALLY applying numbers, you have 18500 people. You have 83 against posts/replies in 24 hours.
See “Everyone” is a term to suit how you feel, not what is posted.
I know, its easy to deflect and say " Not everyone posts", but you’re using those that did as a validation for that “Cant make em happy no matter what” rhetoric.
Moot, right?
It appeals to a few hundred, hell, lets say 5000…and alienates 12000+
It’s not rocket science.
So, why merge and create 12 max or near max servers? To appease face rollers? Think about it. What looks good to investors or potential prospects? 12 servers at or near cap or 48 servers with 5 at half of cap?
The motivation is not to make people happy. it’s about costs and optics.
Time to move on.
Honestly there are a lot of good communities on Orun having such a good influx of community based players would be awesome and as an orun player im excited for it.
I think if we can get all the olympus peeps who want a good community together with the orun peeps who want the same we could make a great server together
Currently I know of some people on Midian who are very unhappy that their low pop is going to get rolled into another medium pop server on the west coast.
I used to play on that low pop before it got under 300 concurrent players at a time, and we asked for weeks for a dev response or someone to pop into our server wide discord and talk with us about merging the server and saving it from bleeding out and dying. Instead they told us we would get no more merges any time soon, and the server died over the next month down to about 100players at peak, most of the big companies left, and stuff like townboards weren’t getting done.
Those people who stayed found a way to come together as a community across faction lines and preserve/upgrade the town stations, run the invasions and keep the economy working to a small degree so at least most of the game was playable. They kept T5s up and they ran chest runs for the lower levels since there were fewer large companies around to organize things. They should be proud of that accomplishment and coming together to make it work.
Here we are months later and with very little warning they’re getting rolled into Yggdrasil where most of them CHOSE NOT TO TRANSFER even though they had the option. A lot of us transfered there back when we were discouraged by the “no merges soon” response, and it has gotten worse since in terms of player numbers and viable pvp/war content so it no longer even counts as much of an upgrade to their gameplay situation.
They will have more players and a slightly more active trade post, but it comes at the cost of the community they built and the territories they have worked their buns off to maintain in the absence of a large enough playerbase to make that happen easily.
Without another west coast low pop left to transfer off of Yggdrasil to (they’d go as a group), they’ll have no choice but to change their ways and lose the unique flavor of the community they built as they’re assimilated into another server.
It could have been avoided if a GM had hopped on the server and made contact with the controlling companies.
They could just release store bought tokens and cancel merger with all the unhappy people.
Interesting I generalize to suit my feelings? Yeah okay… but since you want to take it further with all your information lets do that shall we? But lets look at the business side of the game rather than the play experience…
Is it cost effective as a company to have servers barely using more than 20% utilization? No its not. The cost to maintain and keep it running makes it prime example to consolidate and save on resources or re purpose for additional uses elsewhere.
So sorry your butthurt. go generalize somewhere else.
