I was using uncapped but just watched a video and the dude had it capped at 60. Anyone fool around with this and figure out which is best ?
Ive got it capped at 60 but runs around 80FPS still?
mine is going a lil over 60 with it capped at 60 but i think thats normal. im not sure why yours is going into 80s with it capped at 60 tho, do you have the dynamic resolution thing enabled? doubt that would make that happen but idk lol

Cap it to keep your hardware safe and maintain stable fps.
GPU usage will go down and whenever there’s a big load coming, your GPU usage will be able to go up while maintaining your fps.
If you don’t cap it, you will experience frame drops because your GPU usage can’t go up anymore, so it just drops frames.

See I experienced the opposite.
If I cap fps to 60, it regularly dips to 30s and 40s
If I uncap it (My tv only goes to 60hz in 4k mode, which annoys me)fps is 70+ with dips down to 60.
So not sure why it does that, but it happens in most games I play that offer fps caps.
Maybe it drops the GPU power below a certain threshold on capped which bottlenecks the fps to a lower number, whereas an uncapped keeps it above that threshold so it’s easier to handle unexpected loads?
If it’s capped at 60 and running 80 check to see if you have VSync enabled. If so, disable it. I run my 3070 capped at 60 and it stays within 2-3 fps of that consistently.

My current settings have FPS uncapped and Vsync off in the game settings and then force the better Vsync option through Nvidia that allows the GPU to render higher than the refresh rate but drops any frames above 60.
It keeps things much more stable on the fps front and the GPU tends to sit right around the 66 - 70 Celsius mark.
Which is about the same temps Warframe runs at.
The airflow in my case is garbage though lol.
I leave mine uncapped and let that baby go. I have liquid cooling and multiple fans cranked up though, also a small exterior ac unit. Only time my temps come close to 70 Celsius is if I’m in the main city at prime time and people are using skills.
im using a 2080 TI and i usually cap games at 144 for my monitor refresh rate but for some reason they only allow you to cap it at 60 fps, feels like they thought it was a console game for that setting.
