You guys need to stop looking at steam charts like it’s a stock exchange

Did you enjoy the alpha? Did you try the beta? Did you watch any review of the game before buying?

I am seriously confused in why you bought the game and why you are here right now? All games can’t be for everyone… That doesn’t mean they are bad. It means we have different taste.

I bought it because I stupidly allowed friends to tell me they had changed it to consensual PvP and that the game had improved. We all make mistakes. Why am I here now? Because it’s difficult to believe how a game can be so totally messed up the whole time, and I think, like many others, it’s worth watching to see if it’s possible to get better. The graphics, atmosphere etc. of the world itself are excellent…it’s the actual game which is rubbish. The only way is up hopefully, but looking at it day after day, it manages to keep getting worse.

I have bought a lot of games over the years that I didnt enjoy (for example GW2 and ESO). I don’t call that a mistake. Its just how buying games works. You enjoy some and dont enjoy others.

If you are talking about the bugs and exploits then I 100% agree but if you are talking about core mechanics and design philosophy then I don’t get it because that has been the same since the open beta.

Yes. Not keen on all the taxes either but it is what it is…The New World, the Great Reset, you’ll own nothing and be happy etc.etc.

I mean yeah the bugs and exploits have been a fiasko. No question about that. It’s a real shame that they didnt wait 3 more month before releasing the game so they could have fixed these bugs before launch. It will probably cost them a lot in bad PR for a long time.

celebrating a 90% drop in player numbers as a success seems to be pushing definitions of words far beyond their breaking point.

But he is well know for it. Union busting, making drivers piss into bottles to name just two.

Do you have google? you can search this stuff for yourself, which means either you have and ignore it or you haven’t and you’re just ignorant.

Which is it?

I would imagine lots of amazon rocket pre-orders are being cancelled.

If amazon can’t make a relatively bug free video game, i don’t hold out much hope for their space rocket program.

5…4…3…2…1 Lift off

t+10 seconds “Ground control to amazon rocket, good news, we’re launching a rocket testing program”

That’s a Straw Man argument. No one is celebrating the drop in concurrent players. But the game is in fact VERY successful and popular right now, today, despite that huge drop and that just show insanely successful the launch was in sales. When you can drop 90% and still be top 4-5 overall. And the drop have slowed down significantly and we even saw an increase this week so it’s not like the game is going anywhere soon. Amazon usually win in the end in whatever they do. It’s terrifying and exciting at the same time.

I have never and will never defend the bugs and exploits in this game. I have many times called the bugs a fiasco because it has been. Every single patch have introduced new bugs. So people have every right to complain and be upset about that.

Top 4 or 5 on Steam? Thats not saying much, especially since all the big MMO’s dont rely on Steam to play or to count their player numbers. Steam is nothing but a side show. The numbers are bad because they show a continual decrease/decline. The game is tanking, and you are nothing but a beta tester for AGS.

Erm…they already failed big time on two games, are you hoping 3rd time lucky?

Yeah…it kinda is a full representation.

I agree about the beta tester comment. I have actually pretended that I am playing a beta for 2 month now. Having that mindset have made it more fun to play. The game was obviously released to soon with to many bugs.

But a comment on what you said. The game WAS tanking, until it slowed down significantly over last couple of weeks up until this week when we actually saw an increase in concurrent players every day of last week compared to the week before. And that is on the current numbers where New World is still very popular. Having 100k concurrent players daily is VERY good. That would mean the game have an estimated active player base of 500k-1million players.

Anyway it will be interesting to see how it all goes in the future. I would bet my money on that AGS will continue to fix bugs and release content. I think that we have just seen a tiny part of what is coming.

AGS have failed (practiced) over and over for a decade and made like 20 games. They tried over and over until they succeeded with New World. That’s how Amazon operates. They go in long term into new markets and they don’t care about profit short term. I think Amazon as a whole didn’t make a profit until 15y after it started, they reinvested everything over and over.

They’re rapidly running out of guinea pigs though!

But New World is the golden goose.

Riiiight :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes New World probably have over a billion usd in sales right now. And they have the ingame store along with Prime. This is the AGS golden goose long term if they want it to be. And patch 1.2 showed that there are hundreds of thousands of players/customerd starving for content.

So people spent their entire day playing when it launched - you know you just posted that the average time per player was >10 hours per day right? People binging on a game at launch? I’m shocked!

If there were a million players that would still mean 2 hours per player per day - how is that bad?

The thing about daily peaks (back to the OP’s point) is that we’re ignoring that the game is played across three different time zone sets and that a peak of 100k+ in no way indicates only 100k people played that day. It could easily be 2-3 times that number across a 24 hour, 3 time zone sets, day.
