Your Respawn Rates Are Idiotic

Can you tell me who was in the room when it was decided that quests that involve killing/looting chests have respawn rates in the 30sec-1min range while rando “Kill 3 Stupid Sheep and skin them” have fewer mobs and like 10 minute respawns? Its asinine…

Definitely sounds like a decision made by some executive who’s favorite game is TicTacToe but only if they’re winning. Not to mention the “…and skin the mob for quest item” is the worst quest design ever, period.

Yes, the spawn rate in some places is too short.

Right behind the “we pvp give us more stuffs” and the rage against the LS nerf.

I think this is a known issue

  1. Rando Skin Quest Mobs - 10 Minute respawn
  2. Rando Ancient next to a supplies chest - 30 second - 1 minute respawn
  3. Quest Mob 5 - 15 minute respawn

Personally I think it should be more

  1. Rando Skin Mob - 4-5 Minute respawn
  2. Rando Ancient Mob near chest - 2-3 minute respawn
  3. Quest Mob - 4-5 minute respawn

I wonder how many decades it will take for New World to finally complete its transition from “hardcore solo survival PvP” to “casual cooperative PvE game”.

“Skin the mob for quest item”, given skinning is exclusive, is hardcore solo survival PvP design clearly as day. Give them a hundred years and they will finally finish transforming New World into a PvE experience that makes sense.

This game doesn’t have the code/programming it takes for an escort quest. That’s why we don’t have those and all the NPCs are perpetually standing, sitting or repeatedly crouching in lightning speed. I bet the NPC’s dialogue interaction object is separate from the NPC’s object itself and if the NPC walked away from it the interaction object would be left behind.

Fair point, had enough of those in other games. I think I’ve never called an NPC so many names for walking straight into the center of enemy village and shouting “help, protect me” when in fact there was a perfectly good path around the damned place.

But the idiocy of “Kill a named mob, then skin it” lies within the fact that it’s a single one named mob, with a dozen players queueing up to kill it anytime night or day, and its respawn time hovers around 5 to 10 minutes. Which, I think, is even more annoying than Kaya’s inability to leave the suicidal footpath.

It’s definitely a close call for sure! Queuing to skin a quest mob is ridiculous - and contradicts the mmo mindset that kill quests have where you dont even need to be grouped with others to get credit for a quest mob kill.

I still stand by escort being the worst because the idiot always walks so slowly except when charging after a mob, and also because they bug out and you have to do it again!

I can however happily agree that the skin quests should also be forever removed from this game and any other

The only thing that spawns faster than MOBs is the threads complaining about it.

There is one skinning quest that is worth it. Boarsholm! You need to be in top form, cause respawn rate is about 1 minute and there are about 10 boars in a small area, but if you do it right you come back with the an insane amount of skins! Other areas with a lot of ancients around a chest (like 5 - not just a single) are great too. Super hard to break into and split everything so you can farm, but if you do it right, the loot is fast. Of course, I imagine the real intent was to do those areas while grouped…but where’s the fun in that? Too easy.

This drives me crazy. When I come across one of those “loot chests while mobs rapidly respawn and swarm on you” quests, I just unpin and go back and complete it when I’m 10 levels over the suggested level.

Unfortunately that has been my strategy as well.
